7 AAC 50.405
SUPERVISION OF CHILDREN; CHILD-TO-CAREGIVER RATIOS IN CHILD CARE FACILITIES
(a) [H] In a child care home there must be
- (1) a minimum of one caregiver;
- (2) no more than a total of eight children under age 12; and
- (3) no more than three children under the age of 30 months; no more than
two of these children may be non-ambulatory.
(b) [GH] Except as provided in(c) of this section, a child care group home must
have
- (1) a minimum of two caregivers;
- (2) no more than a total of 12 children under age 12; and
- (3) no more than five children under the age of 30 months; no more than
four of these children may be non-ambulatory.
(c) [GH] A child care group home requires only one caregiver if the
- (1) number of children decreases to no more than a total of eight and the
requirements of(a) of this section are met; or
- (2) caregiver has completed one year of licensed home child care or the
equivalent or meets the college credit or CDA credential requirements of 7
AAC 50.200(d) and there are no more than a total of
- (A) 10 children, with no children under the age of 30 months; or
- (B) 12 children who are all school aged.
(d) [C] In a child care center, the following caregiver-to-child ratios must be
maintained at all times:
- (1) one caregiver for every five infants;
- (2) one caregiver for every six toddlers;
- (3) one caregiver for every 10 pre-elementary aged children;
- (4) one caregiver for every 15 kindergarten aged children;
- (5) one caregiver for every 20 school aged children; and
- (6) when children of different age ranges are grouped together, the caregiver-to-child
ratio for the youngest child applies.
(e) In this section, "non-ambulatory" means a child who is not physically
and mentally capable of achieving mobility to exit a building without the aid
