Tell Me If I’m Nuts :}
So I am in the process of becoming a group daycare. I posted an ad on cl for some ladies to help answer questions and to meet for coffee to help me out and to set up my home like a daycare:} Am I nuts for doing this???? I am just so nervous and my living room is so tiny that maybe someone could help me set it up so it looks bigger. I have a hudge couch and recliner in there so maybe I can remove them or I want my dear hubby to extend it by breaking down a wall. Is the wall part hard??? He built on wall but I would love for this one to be broken down. Thanks

It depends if it's a load bearing wall. If it is, you cannot remove it. Also, you may need a licences electrician if there are wires behind the wall. You get into drywall, insulation (if it's blown-in it can be a mess), studs, and maybe wireing. Is your husband a contractor? My husband and I work in fire restoration (both liceneced), and it maybe easy, or difficult depending on what is behind the wall lol.

What is the layout of your house? How many square feet is it? How many rooms will you be using?
Have you been approved to go group yet? I know there has to be adequate enough space per child.....you're in NY, aren't you? I'd love to try and help you with a set up, if you can give me some idea as to what your house looks like! |

Are you going to set it up with "centers" or more informally? I have a block area, dramatic play, writing desk, cozy corner with books, and an infant/toddler area. I put my art and messy stuff, and now all the table toys with small parts out in the dining area to keep it away from the little ones. Do family members use both bedrooms downstairs? you're going to need all the room you can get...lol I'm only family size, and we still tend to spread out all over the house:eek: |
