A few months back I had a 16 mo old get her diaper off, smear poop everywhere in the pack n play and on herself. Even though I had a sheet over the bottom mat, it still got on the mat. So, I took the pack in play outside and hosed and scrubbed it off. Disgusting. After the bottom mat dried, I noticed it had warped because it is made of that fiberboard that is not waterproof. I have since taken all my pack in play mats and covered them with a shower curtain to prevent getting ruined in the future. I always encase the mat in a sheet, just like most do with a a crib mattress....mattress protector then sheet.
