Default Rude and Inconsiderate Parent

Last week a parent was supposed to drop her daughter off @ 12 pm. She called me @ 12:05 to let me know that her child will not be coming at all that week. I asked her if she could please give me more of a notice and she responded "I will let you know when I know". I was extremely annoyed by this as it was so inconsiderate. I msg her on monday to let her know that her daughter must be in attendance by 12 pm or she will not be allowed in until nap time is over @ 2:30. She then informed me that her daughter was not coming in that day and that she does not agree with paying for days her daughter will not be there. I informed her that I understand that she doesn't agree with it but she still has to make her full tuition payment by the end of the day (her payment is due on Mondays) and if it was not received that late fee will apply. She then tried to tell me that title XX doesn't pay for days that the child is not there (she is not even on title XX). I informed her of how title XX pays (even though she is not on title XX). She didn't respond. If she comes tomorrow (I say tomorrow because she doesn't come on tuesdays) without full payment, she will have to walk back out of that door with her child and she will be terminated. Am I wrong? If she does not show up tomorrow, she will be terminated immediately. She signed a contract that states she understands that payment still has to be paid whether child is there or not. Should I contact her tonite to see if her daughter is coming tomorrow or just wait it out? I'm beyond annoyed with this parent...

When she signed the contract she reserved that time period. I don't know if you are full up or not but if you are, she's preventing you from taking on anyone else. Sounds like she wants you on "stand by" and she's better off going to a center that accepts drop in care. She has to understand that you are prepared, ready and waiting to take care of her child and that you expect to be paid.

If she worked at a convenience store and no customers came in, SHE would expect to be paid for her time there. It's the same thing.

I would just wait and not call her. It's HER responsibility to contact you and let you know her arrangements etc. For some reason many parents think that if they just ignore you and don't show up, that they are fine and don't owe a dime. WRONG!

Don't call her BUT have termination paperwork with a list of charges due and be ready to give that to her if need be.

I agree with previous posters. DON'T CALL! She's the one that signed the contract. She is already aware of your policies. Failure to pay on the due date includes a late fee and she can't decide when she wants to pay and when she doesn't. If your contract states that fees are due regardless of attendance and you have a signed copy, that's a good as gold. Either she coughs up the money or you terminate and get the money anyway!
