Unhappy The Screaming Returns...

Ugh!! So I have a screamer that I was hours away from terming but mom and dad really started working with me and DCB (7mos) became a different child. he played, laughed, and was generally happy all the time! Miracle!!! only took a month of crying but he got better.

until now...

He just learned to crawl and now the screaming has started again. It's like learning to crawl and reverted his personality back to his old screaming self. He doesn't want to play at all and nothing but being held stops it, which with 2 infants (DCB and my own child), a full time 2year old, and a pt time 2 year old that is impossible. He just crawls around (usually following me) screaming.

It's been a week and a half since he started screaming again and I'm at my wits end again. We have to keep the windows/doors shut even though it's hot (and no a/c) because I've had neighbors pop in to see if every thing's ok (blah!) as we live at the end of a cul de sac and the noise just echos. my other DCKs are all over the place schedule wise because no matter what I try the screaming wakes them up. My 2 yr old DCKs have even started saying things like "I don't like DCB" or "DCB hurts my ears to much." No one wants to even play in the same area as him now.

I've been letting DCPs know he's upset again but they say they are continuing everything we talked about and nothing has changed so they don't understand why the crying is back.

I'm already struggling to fill my last ft spot, so I'm doing everything I can to try to keep DCB and make it positive but the screaming is really getting to me and making me not want to be doing this, to the point that last night I was looking into job openings in my prior line of work and making a list of providers I know and trust that I could use for daycare for my own child. I know i'm just frustrated and this is what I want to be doing but I need advice on how to handle DCB.

I could have written this post. My Screamer is the same way andi too have had to shut windows. It's seems any milestone she is reaching has caused the same. She is slowly getting better though after weeks of constant screaming. I really have no advice as there was nothing I could really do to make it better. But just wanted to say I am right there with you. Today and yesterday has been no screaming or crying at all but last week it was the same ole with her.

I have no real advice, but I wanted to offer you e-hugs. (((hugs)))
One question, though. I know this sounds peculiar, but have you given DCC a sippy cup? Sit a sippy cup down and assist the child in using it? With a child I raised for many years, I had to use that method. He was a very angry infant and toddler.

You can make it through today!

I had a 10 month old boy enrolled a few years ago.... when he first started and was going through his 3 month transition period (he had been with grandma since he was 6 wks old) he screamed and cried all day for just about the whole 3 months unless I was holding him. But, I didn't, not so much because I couldn't have, but because he needed to learn to self soothe. I had to be very, very patient....it was so hard..
Sometimes when I actually was in a position to hold him, I would tell him he could sit beside me. He didn't like that much but would eventually calm down....but If I moved one little inch (I mean I couldn't even scratch my nose) he would start screaming again. If I was cooking lunch, I would explain to him that I couldn't hold him, but that I would give him a hug. Mom was very cooperative and pretty much like clockwork, by the end of the 3 months he stopped. He stayed with me until he turned 5 and started kindergarten...he was a really smart great boy and his family was wonderful. Not sure how long you've had this baby. Maybe he's insecure and the parents are holding him and not being truthful with you. Are there older siblings at home? Sometimes that makes it worse, because the baby has constant attention..if not from mom or dad, then from sis or bro. If you can get everyones' cooperation it would make it easier for you to work with him. But, I think I would talk to mom and dad and give them a specific time frame to work on the behavior. Good Luck

I have one that was like this, it last for a couple months. I still have her and she doesn't scream anymore. It will go away but it all depends on how long you want to deal with it. I just learned to deal with it because i knew one day it would go away.

Default waaaaaaaaa!

I have had children like that over the years and I would have to say if you are at your wits end term the child. Letting that one child go will make your life so much better. That said, it seems to me like most of the time when I am going to term a child and I haven't told the parents yet the child's behavior changes for the better. It's odd but true.
