Default Does Anyone Do 24/7 Care?

I have noticed in my town a lot of people starting to offer 24/7 care. Honestly, after providing care 10-11 hours a day 5 days per week I am wiped out! If I didn't get some time to myself in the evenings/weekends and time to run errands I would be a raving lunatic. I think burnout would come hard and fast.

I don't ptovide 24/7 care but that's because I live in CA and here someone has to be awake even during the times that the kids are asleep. Ii's not always this way in every state however I'd be wiped out too having to wake up in the night to console a sleepy child. No way, not me.

I was open 24 hours a day when i first opened and it was tiring. I usually only had a couple kids at night and only want really easy ones. My son and another boy would keep me run ragged every evening playing and getting into stuff. Sheesh. Im glad i quit evenings

the only ones that I know that offer this are newbies trying to get anyone in the door. there are no daycare facilities, to my knowledge, in my area that offer late evening or night care.

There are lots here but mostly because lots of people work shifts that require a night rotation on occassion. And here you don't have to stay awake with them every second they are here. I love my own family too much to enter that realm. They would dis-own me.

we have several hospitals in town, factories and whatnot....I am actually surprised there isnt more of a demand for it. The facility closest to my house tried it for awhile and then stopped because they weren't seeing the demand for it either. weird.

Same here. I am also surprised there isn't more of a demand either.

We do have one center here that is 24/7 but the director there said it is usually only once to three times per month that they have a child who actually stays over nght. The rest are parents who work bar hours and pick up around 1-2 a.m.

I ONCE a loooong time ago thought about offering second shift care but then thought better of it after talking to a few providers who did/had done it and they said it wasn't worth it so I didn't bother.

Maybe its not really a demand as there is only one parent working the graveyard shift so they are home with the other parent. Also, maybe more grandparents watch the child for the parents.

I hated graveyard! I'm a sleeper so I would work all night then sleep almost the entire day so I would only have like 2 hours of awake time before work. Could not get anything done!

Kind of..and in the right circumstances. I am highly flexible, and will do night care for the right kids.
I don't, however, take kids all 24 hours. If I am taking night kiddos, I don't take really early morning ones, and vice versa.

We offer 24/7 care by contract, but it's also easier for us because there are 5 of us between 2 locations. If it were a one person show it would be very difficult to carry out. We mainly get some overnights and weekends in addition to weekdays.

you have to charge tax ontop of your fees because your open 24 hours. Many providers don't know this, but its written on the goverment site.
