I'm in a center but we are doing a virtual road trip this week. Last theme before our end of summer celebration week. After Labor Day we'll start our school year.

I am coming to your house for homemade pickles!!
Your menu sounds good! When I posted this I forgot I am off on Friday! So it is going to be letter Ee.
Monday- Elephants capital E lunch chicken fried rice, peas, cantaloupe
Tuesday- #2 Taco Twosday Tacos on whole wheat tortillas, corn, watermelon
Wednesday e is for eggs- Lunch scrambled eggs, toast, peppers and carrot sticks, mixed fruit eggs in the rice table. I am thinking I am going to put capital and lower case Ee's in the eggs for them to find.
Thursday- Outside play day I have some messy things that I have wanted to do all summer... Melting Ice with salt etc so while my college age daughter is still home, I am going to do them. Lunch, haven't decided yet, depends on what I get at the grocery store tomorrow

When I Grow Up I Want to be a Dentist is the theme for next week.
A Dentist is coming on Friday. We've been having a lot of career oriented people the past couple of weeks. It has been a blast.
We don't do letters of the week since research says that they are not retained. We simply incorporate spelling into the lessons. Spelling the month at calendar time, noticing the letters in the word Dentist, stopping to notice our sight words (you can google Dolch Preschool sight words).

The menu is in MMK and I have no idea what it says since it's only Saturday.

Your kids must love chicken! I tried serving chicken last week and they wouldn't eat it. I can't imagine trying four days in a row.

I do lots of chicken too (my dd is allergic to cow, beef, milk, cheese so esp when she is home I avoid it)

I am doing letters right now because I have one little girl that wants to know them. My little ones enjoy making cats, dogs, dinos, elephants etc so it works.
I try to do "kid led learning" so, since "A' (almost 3) was asking letters that is where we are headed right now. my other little girl that is a couple months younger has also been enjoying letters. "B"(almost 2) is learning her colors. Since all three are counting we are throwing some number in there. "J" (1 1/2)is a boy and along for the ride. He does like painting and crafts. I add in lots of books and literature. I got my other 3 boys back t/th now. (both parents are teachers) 4 yr old is starting preschool this year but he is almost reading so this should be interesting. other almost 2 yr old is another boy along for the ride. My other 2 are little.
Generally if they ask about something or seem interested that is where we head. I throw in some things I have been wanting to do and add in books.

I have a couple of kids who are going to school, who can't even write or recongize their names, but the one that isn't going to school knows her name. Oh, apprently the kids here will eat chicken everyday if I allowed them.

string cheese, my kidlets would eat string cheese everyday!!

I think all kids learn at vastly different rates! I just try to spark interests and go from there. This little girl though talked complete sentences before she was two... she is one of those. So, she is my million question kid. Because she can speak and well, she does... all the time...

We're still in free play summer mode here as our school's don't start until after Labor day.

I am in the process of cleaning out tons of toys, redoing contracts, updating files and organizing this years plans.

We are also re-roofing, re-painting and sprucing up some much needed areas around the house.

I have some new goals, both personal and professional this year so I am super excited to get going, although I am sorry that summer is fading fast...
