I am curious as to how many providers still accept checks?

I do but havent had a issue yet. I do state that if they bounce I have a fee, and going forward will need cash or cashier check. So far so good...

My dc parents pay by check the first daycare day of the month for the entire month before I provide care.

I only accept checks. I had read somewhere that is the best, to have a paper trail in case of an audit. Maybe it was Toms book or something, LOL

I used to have a cash only policy but the parents seemed to feel it was very inconvenient since most showed up with a check instead of cash.

I finally decided not to fight it and just made a new policy stating that I prefer cash but will take a check. If the check bounces, though, they will have to reimburse me for any bank fees I incur because of their mistake and I will also charge them an additional $25 fee just for the inconvenience caused me. I've had a couple of checks bounce on me in the 13 years I've been in business but it hasn't been a big problem.

same here. if they write a bad check then cash from then on....after they pay all the late fees, bounced check fees and any other costs involved in collecting of the money due.

I still accept checks.

All but two of my families do auto-pay from their banks. It works out really well; I get 5 checks in the mail on Friday for the following Monday. They are even in the same envelope, lol. It works out really well; but you have to trust them enough to give them your banking info.

Yep, checks here too. One parent right now pays primarily in cash; the rest are by check.

Two by check, one by cash (by choice). Policy is, if the check bounces, cash only basis.

Btw, I'm prepay, before care.

One day I came across how a daycare (where it was, no idea) had a payment tab on her daycare website. I clicked on it and it gave a Make a payment on Full Time or Part Time rate. So, it didn't give out what the dollar amounts were, but there were just those two options online to pay with paypal.

I will begin my daycare with giving everyone a receipt for payment. I will take cash or check as payment.

I accept checks and in 8 years have only had issue twice. I have 3 parents who currently pay cash and the rest are check.

I take checks, and have only had one bounce in 19 years (just recently as a matter of fact). It didn't cost me anything, so I didn't charge anything. I actually prefer checks over cash, but I wouldn't turn cash away .

I prefer checks. I deposit them into my bank account using my iPhone and I never have to leave the house to go to the bank!! If I get paid in cash it messes me all up!

I accept checks and cash. I drive to my bank to deposit because it is only 1 mile from my home which is not big deal. I only have two checks bounces in 9 years but they paid right away!

All families but one give me checks - no problems - had to beat it into their heads though for awhile to remember to give them to me on paydays but haven't had a problem for over a year.

My other family does direct deposit which I obvioulsy LOVEEEEEEEEE !

Everyone here pays by check. On occasion, they pay with cash but thats on them to do. I have a fee if a check bounces. To this date, Ive never had that happen.

I accept checks here as well. I have been stuck with 3 bad checks in all of the yrs. providing daycare. All of them have paid my sufficient funds fee, and it is cash from there on out.

My bank offers it. Check your banks website, it is an application and typically requires "pre-approval".
