I just found this last night and took one of the courses.

There are 15 hours of possible classes you can take.

You print out a certificate at the end. It has all pertinent info on it and even lists a website where your licensor can verify if they want to.

Given by Texas A & M but you don't have to be a Texas resident to use it.

I am so excited that I can get all my training for this year (10 hours here) for free.

Passing it along....

Awesome, thanks!

Just make sure your state will accept this towards training. I know in MI, we have to make sure that the state accepts training from different programs. I'm not sure if this is true for every state, just thought I would throw it out there.

Thank you! The only one listed on this link that is NOT approved in NY is Routines and Environments that Support Social Emotional Development in Infants and Toddlers.

How do you find out if your state accepts the class or not? I didn't see anything.

I went to my states training calendar and looked for the link of approved online trainings and it was there. Cool There are enough free trainings in Missouri but these sound better to me.

I don't know but Florida generally accepts almost anything so I didn't think of that. Maybe go to your state's website to see if it is approved

Did you have to pay for the certificate? If so, how much was it?
Thanks!

Hmmm, I only see 7 courses equaling 12 hours. I just wrote what it said in the blue box at the top and didn't really count them.

This is an old post from 2013. At that time, in Broward County, Florida, my inspector accepted it.

Question: Are you in a classroom when doing your hours, or can you take the classes at home?

Both.

My county association has the required training REALLY cheap. I take those, classroom style.

I make up the rest of my required hours with classes online. Usually through carecourses.com

I live in Washington State and you have to get these classes approved before they will credit you the hours

Some of the classes are still free. (I just took some of them last week to get my training hours in.) The other classes you pay for are still pretty inexpensive, though.

I've also taken classes from CCEI. Last time I checked, it was $100 per year but you could take as many classes as you wanted. I didn't renew this year because I took them thru Texas A&M for $0 but when I have, I time it so I can get two years worth of trainings in for the $100. (For example, I sign up in July of 2019 and take my classes for 2019. When June 2020 comes along, I take classes for 2020 - before my subscription runs out.) That way, it only costs me $50 per year for trainings.

Not all of the courses are free but they still do have a number of them that are. There are free classes under Child Growth and Development, Child Health and Safety and Including Children with Special Needs. I just took several of those classes this past July and wasn't charged for them.
