When I started being a dcp, I tried hard to please the parents who enrolled their children - I needed business to stay in business. I got lucky and have some wonderful parents.
That was 2 months ago. I now have completely overhauled my parent handbook/contracts/forms to benefit and protect my business. I now nthave one FT and one PT opening. I have never advertised for them but have multiple parents interviewing for them this weekend. I no longer try to please the parents and let them interview me so to speak - but rather I am very firm and interview them.
So, I owe you all a thank you - this forum has been such an amazing support and educational experience for the past months and I would NEVER been able to gain the confidence or backbone that I have without you wonderful providers guiding me, supporting me - and at many times breaking me down (to build me up of course)
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!

Awwww!!! That's awesome! I've definitely added things for the better and started being firm about my contract policies. I don't have a handbook yet but we'll see... Maybe one day!

It's still hard and I think it has to do with the giving nature ofchildcare providers, but I think "what would the forum ladies do?" And it helps
That is great!
My Parent Handbook has gotten longer and longer.
But, it is nice to have things in it that back up what I say. It is "The Authority"
I agree completely about the forum
every time something comes up it's already been discussed on here! These ladies are awesome!
