Help me out with this please - I want to make sure it is correct before I send it out to the parents. I am sure I am over thinking it.

DCB's tuition is $120 per week.

DCB has 4 vacation days.

All closed holidays are paid. I am closed without pay December 26th.

DCP's pay for their space, not attendance.

DCB will be gone December 23 - January 2. DCB may possibly be gone on December 22 as well. They are leaving for vacation and mom may bring him for a half day to finish up packing.

With that being said:
Tuition for week of December 22 - December 26 is $96 since I am closed unpaid on the 26th.

Tuition for week of December 29 - January 2 is $120.

If his 4 vacation days are used to cover part of his time gone, DCP just owes $120, correct?

When I have a tricky one to figure out, I just write out every single day and the tuition next to it:

12/22: $24 (whether mom brings him or not, since vacation days will be used up by the actual vacation)
12/23: $0 - Vacation Day 1
12/24: $0 - Vacation Day 2
12/25: $24 - paid holiday
12/26: $0 - unpaid holiday
-------------
Total: $48

12/29: $0 - Vacation Day 3
12/30: $0 - Vacation Day 4
12/31: $24 - full price even though not attending
1/1: $24 - full price even though not attending
1/2: $24 - full price even though not attending
-----------
Total: $72

So $48 + $72 = $120. So yes you got it right

Why didn't I think of breaking it down? Thank you both!

Yes, I do give vacation days...somewhat begrudgingly. 5 per year to use for sick days, vacations, etc. Around here (centers, in-homes and the good 'ol SAHM's) mostly charge only for days children are present. I tried that and it didn't work. Even with higher prices to try and compensate my income was so sporadic and it was basically like providing nothing but drop in care. So, to combat that I went back to 52 weeks per year but give families 5 vacation days to use for illnesses, vacations, etc. Parents seem to like it and so far it's worked. It has especially helped when a child is sick and I have to enforce my illness policy. Parents seem much more willing to keep their child home if they have a vacation day. Now, if the child misses more then 5 days - not my problem
