Default Come ON!!!

I've been not so patiently waiting for a phone call about new daycare kids for months now. I guess it's been very slow but I'm getting anxious here! I still only have my one family from when I was unlicensed and it's so frustrating to not be even getting any calls!

So today I actually get one and the first thing the woman says is this..."I just want my kids to go to daycare, I don't want to sign any sort of contract"

WTH?!? Why me?!?

After asking her to clarify as to what she needed for childcare I mentioned that what she was looking for was drop in care. I guess I'd be open to that since I have so many openings, so I told her that drop in was more relaxed however there was still a contract regarding paying me on time, that sort of thing. She seemed ok and agreed to come over right then.

I was still apprehensive about this one since the whole "no contract" thing was a huge red flag, but I at least wanted to interview her and see. Next thing I find out before we get off the phone is her 5yo DS is in my daughter's class and I know the boy. He's that kid you see and hope you never have to deal with his behavior, YKWIM?

Well I guess I dodged a bullet because 5 minutes after we get off the phone and I'm cleaning my house quick for the interview, she calls me back saying she forgot that her kids are allergic to dogs. Well since I have 3 and TOLD her that, then it wouldn't be a good fit. We parted on good terms.

COME ON!!!!!! 4 months with no phone calls and this is the one I get! Seriously! I'm in some way glad that I didn't have to go through what sounded like a big headache, but I really am getting so impatient for new clients!

Grrrr.....had to share with people who understood!

Good grief!! Well, it's a bummer that u don't have more kids but at least u dodged a bullet and still have the family that u had. I wish u luck in getting some new GOOD behaving clients in your daycare.

just so you know,
if you fill it, they will come!

as soon as i get 1 call or 1 spot filled, EVERYONE wants a spot. they all come in flocks or waves. i think everyone mates on the same cold ass boring days, and then they all go back to work at the same time.

Yup, that's what happened to me. I had one dck for about 6 months and then when I was about to throw in the towel and get a new job I got a new dck and within 2 weeks I had 2 more

Boy I sure hope so! One of the reasons I left teaching was because it was so hard to get a job and I'd hate to think that I can't make it as a childcare provider as well!

I'll keep holding on!

haha, I had that happen last fall--I was actually sending out applications! and then bam! I filled up.

Now I'm approaching that point again--having trouble getting clients, desperately needing more money, and my university keeps sending me job openings. Some of them look really tempting, and I'm really tempted to apply...while hoping that this is a sign that I'll be getting more clients soon.
