Default WWYD Exhausted?

I am totally exhausted yet I could not sleep last night! I watched the clock and tried my best but could not sleep at all. I have had a lot on my mind with personal/family issues so that may be the cause. I have been working hard in the yard though so I thought that should have knocked me out. I am tired, my body is tired and even achey, yet I can't sleep. I did dose off for 15 mins or so a couple times thru the night but it's not enough. Finally I must have fallen asleep after 6:15 AM but then the alarm went off at 7:00! Now I am fighting sleep and just exhausted! I felt like I was going to pass out in the shower this morn! I don't close daycare much, even when sick I surely don't want to call off and say "hey I'm tired daycare is closed today" That would look terrible. I know my clients don't have anyone else. What can I do? My fear is come nap time I will pass out on the sofa or something. I thought about those 5 hr energy drinks but have never tried anything like that. I have heart palps as it is and although doc says they are ok to work with I am afraid to take something that may speed up my heart (a friend says they do that). I'm sure many of u have been in this situation so I wanted to ask what u do? What would u do in my case? Kids are coming in 30 mins and I feel like if I sit I will pass out I am so tired! I don't have coffee I do drink tea but it does nothing energy wise. What else is there?

I have done 24 hour shifts for years and nothing works as fast or as consistently as the old standby PB&J sandwich.

A good stress multi-vitamin, orange juice and PB&J on wheat bread will get you another 5 hours of alertness , easy.

Pray you can just make it through the day. Before you know it, the kids will be gone and you can crawl into your cozy bed. You CAN do it!!!

Poor thing- I totally get sleep issues I have had them for years! I agree with the PB&J the peanut butter is packed with protein and the sugar in jam is a great combo. Stay away from carbs and starches today as they can make you even more tired!
Also, explain to the parents you aren't up to par energy wise this AM and it will be a relaxed day, get out quiet activities, do a group nature walk so you don't constantly have to chase or have your eyes in every direction on the playground. Hang in there.

Days like that are days when I call "Field Trip to the coffee shop!" Or call it 'Muffin Monday' to make it more paletable to parents. LOL.

I didn't sleep Fri or Sat nights. Exactly like you discribed...and ZOMBIE all day. Last night I decided enough was enough after lying in bed for an hour with no sleep. I took a Tylenol PM and zonked out for the whole night.

I would say it's pajama day. Everybody curls up on the sofa and watches Nick Jr or videos all day.

I hate those days.

Ugh, I've had days like that. You'll make it through. Go to bed extra early tonight!

I got sleep last night, but am soooooooooo cranky this morning. I am letting the kids do their own thing, under supervision of course, so they don't have to deal with my crankiness.

I'm back, been trying to keep myself busy and took the advise of a PB&J along with a few extra strength Tylenol for my aches. It did help some so I thank u!! I don't think of PB in cases like this. Usually I get at least 4 hrs sleep if not 6 or 7 through the week. I think what made it worse today was that I fell asleep after 6:15 for a good rest and was jerked out of sleep by the alarm. I will def be in bed early tonight!

This is always a sleepy patch of the day for me. I usually get sleepy at nap time anyway because once I wipe everything down and do lunch dishes I sit for a bit and enjoy the peace. I won't be doing that today. I made some peach muffins and sat down at the table to check in here. Now I just have to make it through dinner. Today would be a good day to order in! Thanks for the support ladies!! Hope your day gets better Sharlan! Have a good afternoon ladies!

Glad your feeling a little more perky.

My 6 week old kept my up all night..I slept on the couch. I am so tired. When I am tired I am so laid back instead of my usual type A. The kids just play play and then I feel free to take an easy day.

You will get through it. I will be sleepy eyed all day just like you, your not alone.

Being able to take it easy and just let the kids play is a HUGE perk of this job! Imagine if we had to go out and work a manual labor job for 8-9 hours and only get a lunch break! I just couldn't do it today! I thank God for my home daycare and being able to take the breaks when I need them!
