Marketing Idea For Those With Websites??

Here, locally, we have quite a few shops and businesses that could be a potential client goldmine. I am thinking of speaking with the owners of a few places (recycled baby clothes, fun zone, gym, dance place, etc.) and offering to "trade" advertising on our websites.

I can easily slap an ad in my sidebar linking them, and I can always give them some business cards to display in exchange in case they don't have a site.

Has anyone done this?? Do you think it's worth a try?

Marketing and advertising websites is my business. In order for you to get revenue, paid for or bartered, you need the web traffic to justify it. Unless you are writing articles or blogging like Nannyde you may not have the bargaining power that merchants expect.

Is it a site for your daycare or do you also have a forum or blog?

very good idea. If you do this let us know what kind of success you have with it. I'm always looking for more ways to get my daycare name out there.
