Special Requirements to Prevent Child Abuse and/or Neglect and Inappropriate Staff Behaviors Toward Children

GEN (a) Staff members shall not use hitting, shaking or any other form of corporalx "corporal punishment:prohibited" punishmentx "discipline:prohibited practices" of children.

(b) Staff members shall not use abusive language, ridicule, harsh, humiliating or frightening treatment or any other form of emotional punishment of children.

(c) Staff members shall not engage in or inflict any form of child abusex "child abuse/neglect" and/or neglect.

(d) Staff members shall not withhold from children foodx "food:withholding prohibited", emotional responses, stimulation, or the opportunities for rest or sleepx "sleep:withholding prohibited".

(e) Staff members shall not require a child to remain silent or inactive for an inappropriately long period of time for the child's age.
