Licensing Standards for DayCare Centers
Section 418.17
Transportation
(a) The provider must obtain written consent from the parent of the child for
any mechanical transportation provided by or arranged for by the provider to
children in care at the day care center.
(b) A staff member must never leave a child unattended in any motor vehicle
or other form of transportation.
(c) Each child must board or leave a vehicle from the curb side of the street.
(d) Any motor vehicle, other than a public form of transportation, used by the provider or by any substitute, employee or volunteer to transport children in care at the family day care home must:
(1) all children are seated and secured in age-appropriate safety restraints;
(2) the number of persons occupying the vehicle does not exceed the number of safety restraint assemblies in the vehicle as installed by the manufacturer; and
(3) all doors of the vehicle are securely closed and, if the doors are manufactured with locks, locked.
