Licensing Standards for DayCare Centers

Teacher
(1) For each group of children, a person shall be designated as the teacher. This person shall:
(a) Be at least 18 years of age;
(b) Be responsible for and supervise a designated group of children; and
(c) Supervise the activities of an aide assigned to his/her group.
(2) A teacher shall meet the qualification requirements of one of the options listed in Table 2 of this section.

(a) Completion of 20 credits (semester system) or 30 credits (quarter system) of training at a college or university in: |

OR (d) Completion of 15 credits (quarter system) or 10 credits (semester system) of training at a college or university in: |
Early childhood education or child development |
Early childhood education, elementary education, child development, or special education |

AND At least 6 months of qualifying teaching experience in a certified child care center or comparable group care program, in the care of: |

OR (e) Documentation of attaining at least level two in the Professional Development Registry. |
