Our walls are covered in art. We have each child's picture up on a paper painted "picture frame". On the other wall are currently working on our garden unit, so we are making a garden out of construction paper. I alternate garden parts with take home crafts - so we have been adding 2/3 elements per day. So it is a very inexpensive way to decorate, and it looks so personal and special. Plus, prospective parents really love seeing all the artwork. We have also done the same with our ocean unit (blue paper all over, and then added fish, seaweed, crabs, etc).
We have clouds hanging from the ceiling, which look really cute. A big sun that we all made together hangs also. Those would also be cute at the tops of the walls.
I also have a cork board, just the unframed squares, with each child's name and pictures of them & their art. That takes up a lot of space and looks really adorable.
