That is AWESOME! I have noticed alot of "doing things together as family" commercials on TV lately. I was raised in the "family-time" generation but I am afraid my own sons only see family-time as the "odd" thing to do instead of the "normal" thing to do.

Annalee I think I've posted many of the latest post on "what is good" lately, but trying to re-group myself and control some things I can control. As I stated in other threads, it's not just Daycare issues that overtake me, but things within my own extended family and my immediate home.

Over the past few weeks, EVERY evening, my oldest and I ( he is my best worker but has a job plus school)have been cleaning out the basement. I am embarrassed to say how long this has been needed. DH father passed in 2003 and he lived in another state so we Uhauled all his stuff back to our basement. Yes 2003, but it was the kind of things where "will I use this" "I hate to get rid of this", etc.

Thankfully, we are down to a small truck load for the dump. It had to be done. I felt the best I have felt in a long time yesterday. Makes me want to do more around the house.

Carpet removal is planned for the Spring with new flooring and tile for my kitchen. We built this house 25 years ago when we married, but it is TIME!

So the moral of the story is, Get to work and "fix" what you can because it's the "little things" that make the difference. No one else may notice, but I know within myself what I've accomplished.

Annalee It is good to know that my nephews and niece from my brother and their divorced mother are doing so wonderful. I find it refreshing for young adults to become responsible persons despite their "supposedly adult parents ". Kids and young people don't stress me near like "adults" do within my own family circle.

Annalee Got my school shopping finished today. Only a three day work week next week for a long weekend before school starts the following week. So thankful for my sons' gracious attitudes. I found some good deals as it was tax free weekend here as well. They will use the same backpacks as last year. They are awesome at taking care of their stuff. This has been a process but I do see some progress from years of "training" and "praying" for these little fellas! I know the verdict is out on their futures but I am happy right now....today!

CountryRoads My weekend begins at 5:30 today! Closed daycare tomorrow so my own kids can have me all to themselves. I'm so excited to spend the day with them tomorrow

Wish I would've took a couple more days this summer to spend time with them...it goes too fast.

Josiegirl Fun day with my 2 former dcgs who are sisters! Sweetest kiddos and extra precocious, both of them.
Just doing some fun stuff with them but do need at least a 30 minute break; getting them to let me have that is a challenge.
07-16-2019 06:55 AM
CountryRoads While I dread Monday's (2 extra kids who are a little on the wild side), it sure makes the rest of the week seem so much easier!

That is awesome! Bonus!

I received a $100 gift card from Lakeshore a few months ago, and honestly, I can't even remember how I got it. I think it was from a health department class I took, but there was no note in the envelope. Mystery...
06-19-2019 02:38 AM
Josiegirl Nobody has had anything good happen for awhile so I thought I'd add my $.02.
My yard sale is this weekend and I've had a few people I know, already come and take things. Last night a provider(my dd's bf's mom) came and emptied half my playroom!!! She told me I should've been a 5 Star program. lol
She had a truck and filled it up to overflowing. And needs to come back to pick up more I've saved for her. Still so much stuff left.
06-07-2019 05:26 AM
Ac114 DCM works for bath and body works corporate. She is always bringing me candles, lotions, soaps etc. which I very much appreciate. I asked her if she could get me a 150 gift card (she gets 50% off) for Victoria secret. She shows up yesterday and says just think of this as a little bonus for taking such great care of my boys. She is seriously the best DCM!

Annalee Conducted two interviews for a set of twins and a dcg2 yesterday evening consecutively....have to say it was refreshing....sometimes getting a new outlook is what a daycare provider needs. Filled the terminated kid spot and preparing for three children to go to school

CeridwenLynne Sometimes itís the little things that matter. Yesterday of my kids parents took me aside when he picked his child up and told me how much he appreciated me and all that I do not only for his child but for the whole class. For me, a little word of thank you or a note of appreciation means more than a gift.

Annalee Off the rest of the week!

Gonna take in some NCAA tournament, getting a physical tomorrow and some outside work done on this beautiful weekend!

So needed this break to re-group and rest my mind....re-licensing along with life itself has been overwhelming for me the past few months...so much going on that drains me mentally and emotionally.

This forum is so great for all of us as I think life-happenings have attacked us all lately in some form. to all!!!!

Hunni Bee *knock on wood* My 5 year old hasn't been sick all winter, outside of some minor sinus stuff. No viruses, no flu, no bronchitis! She has had perfect attendance since school started
03-11-2019 02:42 PM
Josiegirl I needed to get my dog into the vet today and didn't have any clue what to do. So I sent a text to the 2 dcms I had during that time frame and asked them if they'd be able to come to my house and be with their kiddos for less than an hour while I took her to the vet. They were both very happy to do it.
These are 2 of the best dcms ever!!

Jupadia Thanks twice a year (for each kid) I go over board and have fun with cakes, this guy wanted a wakanda scene (avengers), a building for spiderman, (bought the cake iceing sheet for the buliding you can get it any pic printed on icing). I picked doing the galaxy cake, had a fail last year with the glaze so I wanted to try again.

Msdunny I officially open on Monday, and just had a part-time mom call. She was only going to bring her LO 2 afternoons and 1 full day. She asked if I had an opening on another full day.

This is so exciting for me, because they felt that I wasn't asking enough and they offered to pay me more. I will have this LO the least amount of time during the week, but she is paying more than my other part-timers.

I am so ready for Monday!!
01-03-2019 10:25 AM
Josiegirl A new 2 yo dcb started today; 3 days a week. And he did really well!! No previous group care experience at all so I was a bit nervous. The mom seemed truly happy about it all and relieved. Keep fingers crossed he'll stay until preschool(they already told me that's their plan)or until I retire.

Flowerchild Yesterday was good. Today not so much. My fave part of yesterday was my infant toddler mom came and saw her child being read to by me. The baby enjoyed it and smiled, putting her head on me and just being happy and listening and it really pleased the mom. I get so much negativity from parents or general thanks but nothing significant like" thanks for reading to my child. That's makes me happy. "That sentence alone made my day

Josiegirl Walking out the door this morning, it's not quite 5 a.m., and it's been snowing that gorgeous white sticky snow that clings to everything. I live on a hill near lots of trees and a big field by a farm 2 doors up from me. I have a crab apple tree in my front yard, a tall pine and a tall maple tree in my backyard. The beauty of nature sometimes simply astounds me. It puts me in awe and makes me feel like I'm in a Thomas Kinkade painting.

My licenser came today, too, for a quarterly unannounced visit. (I get quarterly visits per year since I have the max stars...no stars get 6 visits per year. She scheduled my annual re-evalution for my license renewal paperwork/stars documentation for February(my license ends annually in April). its tough because i have one of my own that 3 months and the DCK is 5 months so their schedules clash and little DKB is still adjusting but finally got out there.

Jupadia Yaaa, only 2 hours to go and I'm off for the long weekend. We have Thanksgiving this weekend so I'm closed Monday I also took tomorrow as a vacation day. Tomorrow first thing we are packing our kids up (2 + 5 years) and going to Great Wolf Lodge in Niagara falls. Grand parents and BIL (with wife and nephew) are headed there to.

Now I'm just watching the clock tick very slowly
09-22-2018 02:06 AM
Josiegirl The past 3 weeks have been the best of dc I've had in a very long time. Even with starting a 4 mo this past Monday and worrying about what kind of a baby he'd be, it's been such a nice change. My 3 ft dcks are just turned 2 yo and under. The 4 and 5 yo dcks only come when not in school and that has been nice too.
And the baby, I think, is going to be so sweet!! The 1st day was tough and I kept thinking oh no, what did I get myself into?? But each day was progressively better with him.

If it was a rule, he broke it, and couldn't seem to understand why he was always in trouble. I could see he was trying and he started to improve slowly, but it was a huge struggle for all of us.
Today, I didn't have to scold him, give a consequence, or put him in time-out for one thing. He was sweet with the littler kids, was genuinely helpful to me, listened right away when I asked him to do something.
Now at naptime, he is sitting on his mat looking at books and playing quietly with some soft blocks. I accidentally dropped a spoon cleaning up and it made a bit of a clatter. He looked at me, shook his head gently and put his finger to his lips and pointed to the baby sleeping near him.
I want to laugh at him and hug him at the same time. Total terror to quiet rule enforcer in 3.5 months. Good job, little guy.
Thatís awesome!

I love those journeys!

Josiegirl I took the 2 little ones up our hill for a walk this a.m.; there's a farm up there so we got to see all the animals out. Then to add even more excitement to our adventure we had a couple dozen turkeys walk across the road right in front of us. I love it when simple pleasures are so entertaining to the kids.

LysesKids Not only did I find the books (the original ones I bought 3 years ago now are $2000 a set if you can even find them - no joke, so got different by same Author. Some of her books have gotten very spendy since she died), but I also ordered the handmade ornaments I give the DCK each year; best part is I found some of the party supplies cheaper than last year, so combined with leftover paper supplies, I'm set for the big December party except for making/buying foods.

The fact some of my aged out kids own some very pricey items was enough for me to contact parents & let them know that $10 gift from a few years ago was now, in some cases worth a lot of $$$ and unable to found lol

Sweetest story ever!

E.J.,
I am off to college tomorrow (he included the college name and his major). I would like to thank you for the care you provided me for many years early in my life. I believe we take a piece of our daily experiences and carry them into the next phase of our lives. Thank you for everything.

He was one of those kids who take a piece of your heart with them when they leave for kindergarten. Needless to say, his note made my day! Now I just have to stop tearing up so I can get through the rest of my day care day!

Josiegirl Naps were taken by everyone yesterday. Even the 5 yo dcg who slept 12 hours the night before. And she was so much sweeter and kinder yesterday too!!! You can just tell the difference.

LysesKids Little man took his first step - the best part it was when Mom came to pick up today so she witnessed it; tomorrow is his 1st Birthday, and I'm making a small cake (as I do for all the 1st birthdays) right now... his mom is doing the one with Frosting & then another one on Saturday for the big family/friends party... thank goodness the only frosting that I put on is where the #1 candle goes lol. I don't do hyper babes

NiNi.R. Teachers are at the local elementary school starting to clean out their classrooms and prepare for the new year. My DS has a friend, who's mom is the janitor. She called me and said the preschool teacher was throwing out tons of bulletin board items, unused construction paper, etc and asked if I wanted it.

uhhh heck yes I do!

I now have a two huge packs of gently used bulletin board themes for every holiday and season as well as a heavy duty calendar and weather chart for free!
