Scratching? Treat As A Bite?
DCB14mo just grabbed DCB 13mo by the face and was so rough that his fingernails cut DCB13mo's cheek. It did allow blood to surface although it didn't drip or 'bleed'. I cleaned it and put on polysporin and have left it to the air.
I've now got DCB14mo (who was a 'hitter' for a week when he started 2mo ago) shadowing me. What do you do in this situation? Do you treat it like a bite in terms of repeat? How do you address the parents? I've never been in the situation where a child has physically injured another dck in such a way that I need to report it to the parent and I'm not sure what I should do. I am unlicensed and there are no rules or guidelines I need to follow, so what do you do? |
What were the events leading up to the injury?
It is hard to suggest a plan without following the pattern of escalation to find the root. :o |
