Bad Outfits to Wear to Daycare
I couldn't find the thread about the dislike of snaps on clothes, onesies etc
My least favorite dcb (2 years old) is here today and again wore his bib overalls that do DO NOT have snaps, with a onesie under with that does have snaps. So you have to take the entire bib overall off of him and then unsnap the onesie to change his diaper every time. He wears this same exact outfit every Friday. He comes Monday and Fridays. So he's now wearing only his onesie and I will hand mom the bibs at pickup. She can put those dumb things back on. Common sense is so out the window. Not to mention dad brings him and his sister and they smell like smoke each time and this is the mom that gets out of work at 2:30/3:00 and picks up at 5:15 on Fridays every week. Hence why I'm changing my Friday hours. |

I currently as we speak today have a 2 year old boy in skinny jeans  they are not the worst but just why!? I don’t get the skinny jeans trend on girls or boys.. children or adults. My current 1.5 year old wore white every single day he was in 12 or 18 month clothes. So from age 10 months to just a month or 2 ago. Mom didn’t care if he was dirty but still! That’s when they’re messy with solid foods and all that! Thankfully he’s in 2T now but also doesn’t make too many messes anymore now that he’s figured out forks and spoons hahah. |
Ugh, skinny jeans.
I used to have a hefty 2 year come in skinny jeans. I finally had enough of trying to peel them on and off for diaper changes and told them sweat pants are better here. And huge frilly dresses on potty training girls. Again, sweat pants are best. |
Belts on 2 year olds or any kid that is potty training, or in diapers, or cant do one themselves
|
1. Tie neck toddler sundresses.
Really? What could possibly go wrong on the playground? 2. White pants. Meh, you asked for it. 3. Skinny jeans. I will consider giving them raisins and warm decaf tea just before pickup.:ouch: Not likely to do it, but will think on it seriously. 4. Light up or glitter shoes. Don't whine to me when your kid busts her lip from falling repeatedly as her friends trip her to touch the shoes. You were warned. |

My absolute worst pet peeve is CLOTHES THAT ARE TWO SIZES TOO BIG!! I get it you want to save money but putting a 17 month old in 3T clothes is getting a tad ridiculous. Not to mention she is a new walker and her shoes are two sizes too big and she can barely lift her foot off the ground. Mom is pregnant with baby girl number two so splurge a littke mom and buy clothes that actually fit :cool:
I am lucky that I have accumulated a ton of shoes and clothes in varying sizes to help these kids out! |
I used to have a little boy who always wore clothes that were skin tight. Skin tight pants and skin tight shirts and he also wore an amber necklace every.single.day. My husband always used to say he looked like he was going “clubbing”!
Can you tell I have a lot of clothes pet peeves  |
I have a DCB who wears shoes that are 2 or 3 sizes to big. They don’t even stay on his feet when he walks. Every morning parents were like he really wanted to wear these shoes. Like ok, who’s the parent? After a week I said he needs shoes that fit properly or he can’t play when we go outside. It’s a hazard and he trips and falls and I can’t have him hurting himself badly because he doesn’t have shoes that fit properly. Showed up the next day with proper shoes.
But seriously, why did they think shoes that were 3 sizes too big were a good idea?! |
SO MANY. Rompers, onesies, skinny jeans, too tight clothes, WAY too big clothes.
Crocs Jelly shoes are back. YAYYYYY not. Flip flops on littles. SHOES THAT SQUEAK. WHY!? Sundresses/skirts without shorts underneath. I do not like seeing little girl underwear and diapers/pull ups all day. These god awful sandals. Can't get them wet/don't dry well. Holes get rocks/sand/mulch stuck in them. They LOOK functional, but I HATE them. EVERY CHILD has them. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hi-Tec-Shor.../dp/B00RCJ22MQ PANTS/SHORTS WITHOUT FUNCTIONAL DRAWSTRINGS. WHY!? |
All of the above - except onesies. I actually like onesies. They're wonderful when you have a kid that likes to put his hands down his pants after a bm.

Because I have a two year old who still wears onesies under her shirt and leggings and skirt, or whatever outfit she's wearing, and I really don't get it. It just adds an extra layer of heat in the 80° weather in the summer in California. And it isn't a PITA really, but as we all know, add an extra 40 seconds to a diaper change- no thanks! Lol And really puts a damper on trying to do a quick stand up change..

All DS wears is onsies (bodysuits) with pants or shorts. He likes to take his diaper off AND put his hands in his diaper. So...there's that. As long as a DCK is not actively potty training I don't mind them though.
Thankfully all of my parents now are pretty great about sending their kids in appropriate clothing. I had one mom though, who is no longer with me, who would buy her son's clothing on swip swap. It's great to save a buck, but the clothes rarely fit. She would have to roll the pants to keep them up. They still never stayed up. or they were so tight he and I would struggle to pull them up. Once she sent him in denim overalls that had to be completely removed. He was potty training. She sent me a text later in the evening saying "I hope it wasn't too hard for him to use the bathroom with his overalls today." Well mom, it would have been hard except I changed his pants after drop off and put him back in the overalls before pick up. No one has time for that! |

I agree with most of these! Shoes that don't fit drive me bonkers. Right now I have a sibling set. DCB7 shoes are too big and he's always tripping or his shoe will literally fall off when he's running across the yard and DCG4 has sandals that are too small so her toes stick out the front a bit and get beat up on the concrete. The parents are a Dr and a VP of a very large company in our area...it's not like they can't afford it!
My SIL buys her teenage son second hand shoes, which is fine, but he gets athletes foot and she can't figure out why! Another one I don't understand is headbands and clips in little (under 2) girls hair. They usually rip they out or they fall out within minutes of being here. Those plastic headbands are perfect to see how far you can stretch it until it snaps! |

Crocs, lace-up shoes, or any other shoes that toddlers can't put on themselves. Crib shoes on kids who've started walking. Skinny pants, stretch pants, or too-tight leggings that the kids can't handle. White shirts on kids who crawl! Those shirts WILL be brown at pick up. Also, unless we're eating soup I only use bibs on the really little ones, because I want the big ones to want to get the food to their faces without spilling it. Daycare time is learning time. I'm not wrapping the kids up to keep their clothing pristine. Big kids in white shirts will come home with drips down their front. Rompers with buttons all over them. I only had one family who sent their kid in that, and of course she was the baby of constant blowouts. Fancy hairdos with barrettes and bobbles and things. Those will come out during the day, and I don't know how to get the hair back to the same way they came with that morning. My romper mom would get huffy if the barrette went missing, too. |

Tight jeans, long dresses, button-up shirts - in general "adult" clothes... WHY??? Strappy sandals that fall off, hats that don't cover their neck, fancy long pocket short on a tiny 2yo = shorts touch his shoes... They're freaking babies, dress them in baby clothes! |
