Should I start interviewing to replace....

I have a 16m old that is having issues. Hitting, kicking, biting and now all day he has been crabby, whining and uncooperative after a 4 day weekend. His mom is a teacher so that means 2 months of random drop ins before I have him again full time in the fall. I've been shadowing for weeks and I don't see any improvement. It's the kid that I can't wait till he's gone for summer. DCM is on the same page as me in terms of behaviors and napping (he naps for 45 minutes in the afternoon and then screams the rest of naptime after I check him and lay him down... and has done this for months now) and I know it's a phase I am just not sure if I want to handle this phase, honestly.

I am really considering interviewing to replace him - but I feel horrible about it. Like I am failing him AND DCM - even though it's for my sanity and the sanity/safety of the other DCKs.

I could wait till he comes back from summer and see if he's better but usually all the calls come in during summer for new DCKs here. So I may loose the opportunity to replace for some time if that's the case and just be out $$ from terming him without a replacement. Interviewing is one of my least favorite parts of the job and honestly, I don't interview if I have a crew that I'm happy with.

Yes, I would think you should start interviewing. I know what you mean Bout feeling badly, but there is another feeling you are getting that is making you consider replacing. Listen to that feeling- it doesn't hurt to interview- I don't like interviews either, but sometimes we have to in order to find a good fit.

It doesn't hurt to interview. Not your fault if he's not a good fit. As you said yourself, you don't do interviews if you're happy with your group and it sounds like you're not happy. Do what works for the group and you. :)
