Ugh! Yes I can handle my job!
Don't you just love it when parents question your ability to "handle" the kids in your care?
I just got a text from a DCD (yes on a Sunday too!) about changing scheduled days for next week (which BTW he is off from work on vacation all of) and he wants to switch to my field trip day. I let him know that DCG is welcome but that we are going on a field trip. His response was "Can you handle 3 kids??" This DCF didn't know about field trip because it's been weather pending for awhile (darn rain) and I picked a day that worked well for me numbers wise , a day that my animal obsessed PT DCG(4) would be here all day (her scheduled hours vary weekly, some days it 4 hours others 8) and that my other rambunctious ones were off. This Friday will actually ended up being just DCG(4) as the other are off for one thing or another & my DD (16mo)! The DCD that is texting has an easy going 16mo old who would be no problem. I'm thinking he didn't mean it rudely, they can barely handle just DCG and she is an easy toddler, but its still insulting. I took a deep breath before texting him back and kept it professional but I was a bit annoyed. |
"Yes, that's why caring for multiple children is my career choice. :)"

I think they ask because they could never, ever, ever do it themselves so they can't figure out how we survive most days.
