Reopening with Carpet

I closed down at the end of March. I only have one essential client that could come. The others are non-essential and not working. The essential was keeping her kids home with her older daughters at first. Then she switched them to a friend that has kids. She tells me I can take as long as I need to open up so I have not opened due to fear. I have some health problems that if I catch it may be problematic. with everyone slowly going back to work I really need to open up.

Anyway the real question here is how do I Ensure everyone's safety when my home is fully carpeted? I can't scrub my rubs every single day so I'm looking for suggestions. Is anyone else in this same position? I'm also at a loss for surface protection because I cannot find Lysol or Lysol like disinfectant anywhere! I still have some Lysol wipes but I'm using them sparingly to last. I want the Lysol spray to spray the bottom of the children shoes. For now I plan on having them take your shoes off and put them on the porch outside until it's time to leave. I have one child that will have a meltdown when he has to take his shoes off and leave them off. He wants them on at all times he's five

My home is mostly tile, but I have rugs in my classroom. I have been spraying them down with bleach solution twice a day and shampooing them with an antibacterial solution in a carpet shampooer Friday night. Could you try that in a inconspicuous area to make sure your carpet is colorfast?

I wish I had a good answer. I'd probably try misting daily with odoban since it is laundry and pet safe.

I got rid of all carpeting years ago in my old home then only looked at homes without. I just prefer hardwood and linoleum that I can mop daily. It just better suits my lifestyle with kids and dogs.

If you can find rubbing alcohol you could spray them down with that. Or Everclear

Thank you all!

I would love to have all hardwood floors or even linoleum but I rent my home. I'll try these thank you very much

I personally would not worry about it. Other than saliva aspiration and droplets nothing else really causes infections. Unless every kid is going to be in a bubble while at your house, cleaning the carpets would be the least of your worries.

As for the child who has a fit taking his shoes off.....too bad.

He takes his shoes off. Your house. Your rules.

My classroom is carpet. I've had good luck with our carpet cleaners. I run them every few weeks plus spot cleanup. like the others said- if you're worried about it us a spray on them lightly.
