Stupid People ~ I Have Lost All Patience!

So today is a rainy, snowy, gross New England Day. All of the schools are delayed by 2 hours this morning. As a result, I am open on a 2 hour delay. It is a simple concept. Two hour delay. If you normally drop off at 7:30...well, add 2 hours and drop off at 9:30.

So, at about 7:20 this morning, as my whole family is ASLEEP because of the delay, Stupid DCD #1 calls and tells me there is a delay so he will be dropping off 2 hours late. Ummmm, yeah, I know. This has been the policy since I opened, and this DCD has been here for FIVE YEARS!!!!!! Did he need to call and wake us all up?

Stupid DCD#2 shows up at the right time, with the whole family dripping wet. He tracks puddles through my whole upstairs, then informs me he forgot dcb's shoes!

Stupid DCM #1 shows up and tells me, "DCG slept in this morning, so she will probably just skip nap. I told her she can watch a show on your t.v. upstairs instead." Ummmm, no. Never gonna happen. I responded, "Napping isn't a choice here, so if she won't sleep I will give you a call and someone will have to pick her up. Sorry, DCG, mom made a mistake. Upstairs isn't a choice."

Finally, Stupid DCM#2 calls to tell me she will need to pick up 2 hours late today because of the two hour delayed opening. Ummmm, no. Never gonna happen.

I apologize if the word stupid is offensive to anyone. Just a little mid-afternoon vent.;)

:ouch: What a morning!

I am assuming none of these parents are new and they are all fully aware of your policies. rude behavior to the extreme.

why do parents forget kids shoes?? that important! right up there with diapers and coats. i bet dad was wearing shoes so obviously he sees a need. i dont get it.

dont even get me started on the mom that promised her kid tv time. i am glad you corrected mom in front of child so you are all on the same page.

What did SDCM#1 say? Good for you to stand your ground like that!!

She kind of chuckled and said, "Well, don't say I didn't warn you." Sure, warning taken and ignored. DCG is going to take a nap.

Just once, can someone parent their own darn kid?!??!

And yes, all of these families know me, my program, and my policies quite well. I swear, New Englanders get dumber every March. It's like the dreary weather saps everyone of common sense!

Wow that is super inconsiderate!

OMG WTH is wrong with these people? And can I say it really upsets me when parents let their kids sleep in. I have a parent who does this when she has a day off so she can sleep late. Then drops dck off for the entire rest of the day till exactly 5:30:confused:

DaisyMamma 02-27-2013 10:18 AM

I would call dcm#1 at about a half hr after naptime starts and tell her to pick up.

likethis Yep! This is exactly what I would do! Full afternoon nap or go home.

The word stupid doesn't offend me at all!

They would've all made me mad too!! Maybe you could add a "Snow Day/Late Start Day" rule to your handbook ?? That way people would know what to expect. Well, they probably wouldn't read it, so....

LOL

The truly ironic thing for me is that you have all teachers' kids, right? You would think that being teachers and having "stupid parent" vents of their own, they would have learned a thing or two about not being a "stupid parent".

Country Kids 02-27-2013 01:38 PM

Are these teachers children? If not, I guess I don't understand how they are allowed to go into work late just because their children are going into school late.

Our teachers actually go into work and hour earlier then the kids so even if we have a delay they have to still be there an hour earlier.

bunnyslippers 02-27-2013 02:19 PM

All teachers...and they do not have to be there until school opens. And they can still leave at the end of the day, just like any other day. Baffling day today!

Wow-our teachers would love that here!

LittleD 02-28-2013 07:46 AM

Did dcg take a nap or did someone have to come and get her?

bunnyslippers 02-28-2013 08:03 AM

Oh she slept!

trippingontoys 02-28-2013 08:11 AM

I had a parent tell me this morning if DCB doesn't nap just put him in a room with a tv and a cup of juice.

I have six day care kids in a very small house. We have a schedule. It works. We all follow the same schedule. And if he gives me fits at naptime everyone will give me fits and its going to be a very long afternoon...........

I now understand why some people have a policy that kids are dropped off before a certain time or not at all.

Before I did daycare I bet I did some things that really irritated my provider...... I have apologized repeatedly to her, but today I feel as if I should do it again.

LOL- that's exactly what goes through my head sometimes, too!

And as for DCM #2, she would not have to work any later as a teacher, so no need to try to make you work later... very rude!
