OT - Digital Camera Recommendations

I dropped my digital camera this morning and cracked the screen, pretty much making it unusable. I do not want to be without a camera for very long, so am wondering if anyone can recommend a brand and model of digital camera they have been happy with? I am still in the dark ages with a simple flip phone so do not even have the options to take photos on my phone temporarily. This is not really in the budget right now, but with 3 kids of my own on top of the daycare, there are plenty of opportunities to need to take pics on a daily basis and I don't want to miss anything good! Thanks in advance for any info!

I have several cameras but my g0-to camera that goes EVERYWHERE with me and has NEVER failed me yet is my Fuji Finepix.....

It's waterproof, dustproof, shockproof (dropping) and freeze proof. Basically indestructible. It has gotten fantastic reviews too!

I have a large SLR digital camera with multiple lenses as well as my i-phone having a camera but by far the Fuji is the easiest to use and carry.

Thanks for the info Black Cat! I will definitely be checking this one out! I am very interested in the basically indestructible comment, as we have lost 4 cameras (all Kodak's) from cracked screens (usually about once every 2 years) that were caused by a minor drop! Not the most economical way to ensure we get an updated camera every couple of years, and they always seem to break at the most inconvenient times! Looking forward to other recommendations as well!

I have had good luck with the cannon powershots, but I wouldn't call them indestructible. They do have a viewfinder (at least mine all have, but mine is already 4 years old so check the new models) so if the screen cracks you could still use the viewfinder.

I have a cannon powershot (just bought my 2nd one, last one lasted 6yrs) and I realy like it. Pretty easy to use. I have a habit of dropping it :o and the last one survived them all! Lol! This one I've managed not to drop yet (well maybe once) but I really like them
