Is 12 Months Old Too Young To Switch To One Nap?

I have a almost 12 month old dcg that has not been taking good naps for me in the afternoon anymore, but will take a good nap in the morning. Since all my other kids nap in the afternoon, I would much rather her be taking a good nap in the afternoon as well (then I can have a break!!).

So my question is: Is she too young to go down to one nap? And if I do try that, is it just going to backfire on me?

I think I may have tried this with a dck in the past and it didn't always work (They didn't always take a good afternoon nap even though I didn't lay them down for a nap in the morning.)

I have my 12mo DCG on a one nap schedule but she's on a 2 nap at home on the weekends. She doesn't fall asleep earlier for me here but she cosleeps and breastfeeds at home.

The first week she was here she only slept 30 mins once a day but was super happy. I started laying her down awake and letting her cry and it only took 1-2 days and she was sleeping 2-3hrs at nap. She may wake up and fuss for a few seconds once or twice but always falls back to sleep.

Nope- depends on the kid. I had a 10 month old on one nap because his previous provider kept him up till 1 and held him the whole time! Needless to say, he hated the pack n play, and I had to move him to a mat and one nap per day- you do what you have to to get through the day.

Totally depends on the kid. My daughter had given up the morning nap by a year, but she still needed it. I had a cranky girl on my hands but I couldn't make her sleep. If the child can give it up with no ill effects, I say go ahead.

I just switched my toddlers over the last few weeks, one by one. 2 of them at 19 months, 1 at 14 months, at the latest at 12 months. She gets to sleep in a little longer than the others, so that may be making it easier.

My daughter takes one nap a day for about 2 hours. She wakes up around 9am and goes to bed around 9:30pm.

I find most can between 12 -13 months, but have had a few that just can't function without both naps until around 18 months.

I usually switch all my dcks at 12 months.

Nope.

I just switched my 9 Mth old to afternoon nap only. I try to get everyone to just one nap by age one.
