DCD, potty training - Update

In case you didn't read my posts yesterday, here is the recap. DCD came yesterday angry, trying to make me change my potty training policy. I stood my ground and sent a letter home with DCM telling him that it wasn't acceptable.

First I want to say a big thank you to you all for helping me to grow a backbone. If this had happened before I found this forum, I likely would have just let it go. As it was, my stomach was churning all day.

This morning, they both came to drop off. We had a good discussion. DCD said he didn't realize that he was loud. And that he didn't mean to sound angry. He did say that DCM complains about the same thing. That he is "just gruff, with a low voice" DCM apologized. (He didn't say "I'm sorry", but I get the feeling that he cam as close as he ever will...)

Anyway, it was a good calm discussion and all my concerns were addressed. I feel so much better for having stood up for myself.

An hopefully this will be a good learning experience for Dad. Not everyone that is rude really knows that is how they come across. I had a DCD that had a terrible relationship with the past provider......she refused to deal with him at all and he didnt seem to understand why. I gave them a chance and within a few weeks, knew exactly why LOL He seemed socially awkward and unaware that he came off as rude and disrespectful. We worked on it ;)

Yay, so glad they were mature and able to have an open conversation about it! happyface

that is the best feeling in the world when you use your back bone. THis is just a start. It gets easier and easier the more you practice it.'

Once you learn to stand firm, the issues do start to lessen. Parents see you in a different light. Well this was my experience.

I was the biggest pushover until I found this site....
