How Do You Advertise For Teacher's Kids...

I would love to do this! Thought about it before. I have one teaching family right now. One on the way. I charge a small summer rate, but would charge nothing (for the summers) if that's all I took in.

I have no idea on how to do this, though.

Go where the teachers are. Head to the schools and advertise as a "Special" service for them. Teachers tend to be a close knit group.
I got one teacher and pretty soon a whole bunch of them were calling. They have a unique set of needs so they tend to flock together. At least in my area.

We have two providers who take ONLY teacher kids and both are full and both have waiting lists.

My thoughts are going through the schools. Maybe a mass email or just handing out fliers to the ladies in the office. I will probably run an ad for several weeks/months that maybe has TEACHERS SPECIAL or something like that in bold to get their attention. Anxious to hear other ideas on this.

I was a teacher for 11 years. My DH still is. I would love to be closed in the summers, but even when I had 4 teacher families, I had 1 not. So a light summer. What I have always done is charge 1/2 rate all summer (non-refundable, due on the 1st of each month just like normal tuition, 1 month's notice required) to guarantee they will have a spot in the fall. If I didn't do that, some family might tell me right before school starts that they aren't going to be with me and then I have lost out on advertising/interviewing time. All of my families have paid this fee for the 4 summers I've been open. I do let them bring their little one 1/5 of normal days/hours on a day I choose. This is a courtesy, so if I'm out of town, they still pay. Usually 2 weeks a summer I'm on vacation. That way the kids still know my rules and I still know them. Makes fall a whole lot easier. I have a separate contract for holding spots.
