Happy Friday, Here Is A Poop Question for You lol
Hi there,
Just wondering if you all think that this is okay .... I have a DCB who is 18 months who has several BM's a day. He arrives at 7:30 and by 9 he is on his 4th BM of the day DCM says that's normal for him and some days she said he doesn't go at all. He has about 8 a day and range in looseness but it's not like diarrhea Oay sorry for all the poop talk to end our week |
I find it strange that he poops like that at 18 months. Is he on some strange diet or eating too much fiber or something???
|
that is alot of poop for someone that little. I'm wondering if they are giving him something to help him poop, because like mom said he won't go for a couple of days.
|
"She says some days he doesn't go at all."
I'm willing to bet she's giving him a laxative when he has those days where he doesn't go at all. Is he filling his diaper with each one? If it's just a little each time I can understand 8 per day. If he's filling his diaper my money is on a laxative. |
I guess another question would be do you think mom might be giving him something conveniently when you have him so that you get all of the poo? (I know a mom who has done this and then sends kid to school for 1-on-1 helper to deal with.)
|
I have a kid that's always done that...doesn't go for a couple of days, then poops every 20 minutes or so for a whole day
the kid seems fine and happy so I never really worried |
Milk allergy? I have a child here who is lactose intolerant and if he gets any AT ALL....he poops all day long! It drives me crazy because he is left with gma all weekend who can't say no to him and what he wants so I get slammed with poopy diapers Mon. through Wed. Finally by Thurs....he is back to one or two solid, not loose diapers a day. He is on soy milk here...no dairy at all.
|
definitely sounds like a dietary issue. Dairy, wheat, something else. Or more than one.
I have a 22 mo dcb who poops a lot too. It's always super soft and super stinky. He has one right now. I'm so tired of the smell of this boy's poop. So very, very tired of it. |
I have dcb2 who has really smelly gas. It smells like a dirty diaper. I know he is given extra fiber at times but man what a gross smell radiating from a child....and he has a lot of gas.
|
I have a 16m dcg that has poop pretty much EVERY diaper change. The weird thing is a lot of her poop does not smell much so she gets rashes frequently. I would say on average she goes at least 5-6 times a day. But she eats a Lot. I have had days that she hasn't went all day and there are days she has hit around 10 times.
She seems completely normal and both dcp are doctors so.... i am sure your DCB is fine |

Well, as far as I can tell...any at all seems to be too much! |
I have a 14 month old DCK. She has 4 to 6 bowel movements a day. I mean doozies.

Every individual has their own natural rhythm. I know adults who say they go at least once a day and some that go every other day or every couple of days. Sometimes this is also the child's way of gaining control (isn't everything?), sometimes around the potty training age they purposely hold in when they have to go, even for days. Some foods take longer to digest, fruits and vegetables tend to help you go more easily and meats can take a while longer (people who consume a lot of red meat regularly are more prone to constipated). And of course, if his eating habits change (not eating as much as he normally does one day) it can change the quantity and frequency.
As long as he isn't showing any signs of pain and goes at least 2 or 3 times a week regularly then I wouldn't worry too much. If you are worried, maybe try making sure his daycare meals have more fiber (fruits) or that he's drinking plenty of water at daycare (just don't force him to drink water). |
I had a DCB who was just like that. At least 5-6 BMs a day, at almost 2. They were never formed/ loose, not watery and gave him HORRIBLE rashes.
Turns out that between the milk he was getting at home and at daycare, he was drinking close to 40 ounces a day. Once they cut that out the problem subsided a little. He didn't stay with us long, because of major disagreements about his development. However, I did suggest to DCM that he was gluten intolerant. He had several other delays that could have been related to it. I think diary & gluten are definitely worth looking into. |
Thanks ladies,
I never thought she is giving him a laxative - hmmm He is only with me Wed/Fri and I have never witnessed any constipation of signs of struggling. Blandino, it actually sounds just like you said! I'll have to really discuss with DCM to me something is off when he goes to the washroom 5 times in 1.5 hours. Sure maybe a few times I have jumped the gun to change him to quickly as the smell is something awful it makes my other kiddos and me almost gag and it gives him such bad rashes. But it isn't that 'typical sick diarrhea' So sorry for all the darn poop talk and lovely Info I am beginning to dread wed/ fri from all the diaper changes it really hinders my program when I am constantly changing him. During circle, during walks, during lunch, nap... Thanks again ladies |
