If you stop and think about what things we DO exclude children for, I bet 95% of the reasons are "symptoms" not actual the actual illness.

If I remember correctly a person is most contagious 1-7 days BEFORE actually getting sick. Once they get sick, they get a fever or a rash, vomiting or diarrhea which are all symptoms of an illness. The illness has already been "set free" so to speak.

So why not just view teething as an illness and the diarrhea as a symptom? I exclude for diarrhea when associated with any other illness so why not teething too?

If teething produces the same symptoms as common illnesses, then the same exclusion policies should apply.

Seems simple enough to me. Exclude for symptoms not causes.

I haven't really thought about it before as I have just always been really clear about the fact that I exclude for diarrhea NO MATTER WHAT CAUSES IT.

It's gross and I don't get paid enough to deal with that much s*@t. kwim?
