Oh my, you are so right!!!!
If the parents could just spend one day in "real school" they will see it's not all that they think it is. It's a lot of crowd control, english learning (in our area) just basic self care,(hand washing,teeth brushing) they do have reading time but sometimes it's so loud and disruptive. There are always several problem children and the good or smart kids don't get enough attention because the disruptive ones take up so much time!
I guess for kids that don't go to a good daycare , it's a good start but why put them through it when they are thriving?
