I have a basic casual wardrobe: jeans/cotton khakis, nicer casual tops, cardigan or hoodie in winter, walking shorts in summer. Barefoot, birkenstocks or u g g boots, depending on weather. I rarely wear makeup during the week, maybe mascara and lip gloss at the most. My hair has lately been in a ponytail because I need a trim.
There is a provider here in my town that I see often at the library story hour. She is always dressed to the nines in stylish clothes, hair perfectly coiffed, full makeup, jewelry, the whole shebang. One time she wore these very high platform wedges. Don't get me wrong, she looks great, but it seems out of place for someone dealing with littles all day. It's as if she still has her office job wardrobe and insists on wearing it.
IMO, professional dress is dependent on the profession and duties that profession requires. Scrubs would not be appropriate at a bank, but required in the medical field. KWIM?
