I once went to a restaurant, and after using the washroom without even paying attention I put 'soap' in my hands, which turned out to be a tester for the new Purell with Moisturizer. Cue the sobbing.
When i'm out, and away from my script, I use chapstick (I scrape some off with the lid) and it works like a charm. So i'm assuming vaseline would work too, since it's pretty much what chapstick is, if you ever get caught in that situation again.
