Even for the 2 subs I was going to leave the kids with by themselves, of course I paid them to work for a few hours every day for the first 2 weeks so I could train them. I had them work different hours each day so they would know what to do whenever I actually needed them to work. For example, you wouldn't only train them for breakfast and morning circle time, then out of the blue, hire them for lunch and nap time. They wouldn't know what to do for lunch or nap.
