That. I've been dealing with this with my DD too. I don't let her have access to the coloring book until she's really done.
I do use coloring books as well as blank paper. My DD draws a lot of her own stuff and does seem to prefer it, but I don't let her waste the blank paper either. She enjoys coloring things in sometimes. I can relate. I like coloring and I suck at drawing.
