I am the kind of person that if I have to tell you to do the obvious, by that point I am angry. She is young and I have allowed this to happen.

But the other people I have had for this shift were not reliable at all......
Oh ok... well... I guess if she has a problem with being scheduled on Thursdays I would maybe nicely explain to her that while she does have seniority she hasn't exactly "earned" the privilege of getting that day off. Maybe use the opportunity as an impromptu performance review? Idk... for me it would be frustrating to pay someone to just hang out and read, but I know you need her to stay within ratios. Maybe this will prompt her to improve her performance and in the future you might be able to accommodate her with a surprise Thursday off or something?

I know you're not looking for advice on her performance
