Use a large black marker to write out letters spelling Merry Christmas and give each child one letter at a time to color how they want. Make sure to cut out the letter when they are done so they don't have to stay inside the lines. When they finish one letter, the adult cuts it out and punches two holes through it to hang it on a wire across the ceiling. Make sure to tie knots in the rope before and after each letter so it doesn't slide down the rope. You can also just tape the letters on the wall or bulletin board too.

Some kids colored 5 or more letters while others only did 2. The adults did a letter too and we all talked about each letter as we gave it to the child. Example. M for the first letter started Mary's name so she was told that when she got the letter M. If the letter they got was not in their name we found something to relate it to. This happened with the S and it looked like a squirmy snake and snake started with S. Fun educational project.
