They do count as trainings but are a little bit on the pricey side but then, you can deduct the cost at tax time. I've never taken an online course but would like to 'get my feet wet'. Some of them sound very interesting and I've known people who whip right through the course, not taking nearly as long as it says it will. One of my peers got her CDA that way; she said she couldn't have gotten all her required trainings if not for that.
