I adore watching the deer in my back yard as well!

I did laugh out loud a bit when you said "Deer simply exude gentleness" as I definitely agree but you should see how MEAN they are to each other when a large group of them are trying get to the feeder but there is only room for half of them...

They stand up and kick each other and sometimes it gets really crazy! I've seen some pretty good kicks over the years. The sad part is it's usually the hierarchy of the animal kingdom that makes it that the little ones or the yearlings are the ones kicked the most and must eat last.
