I love this story. And I love the innocent honesty.
Contrast it with this. A combination of mildly bad behavior, a gust of wind, bad timing, and an indulgent parent.
DcD is sitting in his car for 10 minutes waiting out the clock (which i will never understand or appreciate.) His child DcK4 throws some sand out the window of the playhouse. A big wind gust came along and blew the sand all over DcG 4, all over her and in her eyes.
I calm DcG down and clean her up as DcK pouts. Then I call her over to talk about what happened. At this moment DcK walks in and DcK starts wailing. I told him what happened.
DcD picks up DcK4 and babies her, cuddles her, gets out her "blankie" and never once addressed whether an apology is in order. (It was, even though it is unclear whether it was an intentional act. It was definitely made worse by the wind, but I saw it unfold and I believe she was trying to put "some" sand on DcK. And even if it was unintentional, i think she should apologize for what occurred.)

I prefer the innocent honesty
