I saw this on another forum and thought it was funny:
How many forum members does it take to change a lightbulb?
1 to change the light bulb and 1 to post that the light bulb has been
changed
14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb
could have been changed differently
7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs
27 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs
53 to flame the spell checkers
41 to correct spelling/grammar flames
6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb"
... another 6 to condemn those 6 as anal-retentive
2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp"
15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is
perfectly correct
156 to email the participant's ISPs complaining that they are in violation of
their "acceptable use policy"
109 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this
discussion to a lightbulb forum
203 to demand that cross posting to hardware forum, off-topic forum, and
lightbulb forum about changing light bulbs be stopped
111 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and
therefore the posts are relevant to this forum
306 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty
27 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs
14 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the
corrected URL's
3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this group
which makes light bulbs relevant to this group
33 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers
and signatures, and add "Me too"
12 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy
19 to quote the "Me too's" to say "Me three"
4 to suggest that posters request the light bulb FAQ
44 to ask what is a "FAQ"
4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"
143 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about
light bulbs"
1 new forum member to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again.

....but are you
sure that is the type of light bulb she was referring too? There are several different types so I am still not convinced this was what the OP meant when she said light bulb.
missnikki 06:23 AM 01-26-2011
No, nevermind, I don't third. If that's a lightbulb, I was thinking of something else. I'm going to report you to Michael for posting that picture and making me look stupid.

I think the actual spelling is light bulb, not lightbulb.

LOOK- I have an idea- I'm going to look up lightbulb on wikipedia and post the definition, because that is the best way to learn the TRUTH about lightbulbs.

It's babysitting.

how can you even think that's a picture of a lightbulb?!?!? thats not the picture of lightbulbs we use around here. the lightbulbs i use would never look like that.

No, silly, that was me having a good idea. A cartoon lightbulb pops up whenever that happens. You might not know that because it's only happened once.

don't u people have anything better to do than discuss lightbulbs? like watching kids, maybe?

Party pooper.....
Its nap time and I, in fact, did change a light bulb AND threw an awesome birthday party for a one year old and 5 of his closest friends. I even had time to upload and email all 43 photos to B-day boys parents.
We have mad skills like that....

We don't just watch them.....some of us educate them, some of us teach them, some of us play with them, some of us mind them, some of us supervise them, there are even a few who sit on them but we rarely just watch them.
.....unless of course I am changing a lightbulb and have to watch to make sure they are not getting into anything.......

No. Thus the importance of this thread. Admin- can we get this one on a sticky? I'll need to refer to it regularly while the kids are running with scissors.

runnning with scissors?! ...no way...mine are sticking scissors into an empty light socket.

OMG, at first I noticed this had TWENTY-SIX responses since last night and thought how sad. Now that I read it and all the funny responses it's okay.
PS, I like the one about childcare vs. child care & daycare vs. day care relating to how to spell light bulb vs. lightbulb. I do child care and I have a daycare which we use lightbulbs in all our rooms.

This needs to be added to the original post:
1 to point out that everyone is wasting time talking about lightbulbs when they should be changing them.

I'm seriously confused also... Mainly because I thought they were phasing out regular light bulbs and moving to those twirly energy efficient kinds. Wait, do we need to start a new topic for the new types of light bulbs??
Ok I'm confused again.... I wonder if the number breakdown would be the same for lighting a candle?

Do you have the wiki dictionary link to define "interjection" because I'm still confused about the previous candle post.

oh goodness, this was so funny. you all forget
"3 members that try to hijack the thread to talk about unrelated topics"
"1 unregistered troll that posts something controversial and probably unrelated and then disappears from the rest of the conversation"
"1 person that suggest calling CPS. Doesn't matter the topic, someone will suggest it."

Probably we do because there are the twirly kind (flourescent?) and the regular kind (incandescent?) and then those fake candles. Now would they be considered light bulbs or candles?
Not to mention birthday candles and twinkle Christmas lights...
Can someone check my spelling for flourescent and incandescent cause I think they are speeled wrong.

I would ask some more questions but I have to go thaw out the truck before I drive my kids to school. Gosh I hope nobody left the interior light bulbs on last night.
See? I can make a stupid post relevant simply by finding a way to put "light bulb " in the post

I love candles but they are dangerous for my little birdies
I do use them in the kitchen sometimes because my birdies are in my bedroom.

In my state light bulbs have to be above 5ft. Or else. Your state is clearly doing it wrong.
