Daycare Center and Family Home Forum>"Unique" Daycare Names?
ihop 10:58 AM 05-15-2014
I just came across an ad for My Little Graham Crackers Family Childcare. I think it would be fun to name the most interesting daycare names in your area. Or maybe even the most common ones as well.

There's one around here called "Fundecational", where education meets fun.

I've always liked that one for some reason.

There's also Finner's Beginners, Creative Hearts, I like the one that you mentioned!

I've seen a center called Artistocrats. They are on two busy streets and have an unfenced playground
To me the name is unappealing. It sounds like a combination of art and snobbiness

And for most common, I would say I have seen a lot with "sunshine" in the name. And a lot of A-B-C in the name also.

Mine is called Owl's Nest Nursery & Preschool. Around here, Kids Care is a dime a dozen.

I have a Courtenays Cids Child Care around the corner.

The missing apostrophe bothers me ALMOST as much as C for kids (which is backwards, too). Why not just Courtenay's Child Care?

We have a center locally called Tot-al Care. It is pronounced TahhT ALL (as in little tot/toddlers) everyone says TOTAL care. It also has a pretty bad reputation.

One of the "Sunshine" childcares here (a center) has no windows, no playground, and is on two extremely busy streets. Good name choice

Besides the obvious reasons for ABC, the best way to be listed first in any advertising is to have letters in your title.

Whether ABC or BBB....having letters, immediately puts you at the top of the alphabetical chain.

Creative daycare homes and child care center names around here are:

A center here is called Neighborhood Kids. I like it as it suggests just your average kids playing in their neighborhood. Kind of vintage sounding. If it hadn't already been taken, I would have used it.

Hate one called Lil Rascals.

You see tons of things like Lil Angels & Lil Stars. I hate the 'word' lil.. The one that bugs me here is Kiddie Factory. Long rectangular steel building painted in primary stripes on one of the busiest roads in Indy.

We have one called phonics phactory. I would NEVER bring my child to somewhere with misspellings in the name. You could have phds running the place and I would even do it. I got the whole phonetic spelling thing but it just rubs me the wrong way.

Most common here is lil angels.

We also have a male run, unlicensed, dirt cheap daycare called "uncle bucks childcare" the only picture Is from the movie.

The daycares all around me have the cheeziest names! Some of the names are just outright annoying, lol.

I tried to be original but every freaking name I could think of was already taken somewhere in my state. So I started searching daycares in other countries and found one I love for my center. Its typical there, but the 1st one here in the US:-)

Courtenays Cids is hysterical, I'm dying over here. How could you trust this woman to teach your child anything? Maybe that's the point, it's funny. I hope.

I don't mean changing something to be a play on a name or word. I mean intentionally misspelling a word for no good reason other then to make it look like a child wrote it. I can only assume if I saw the same word misspelled 5 days a week for the first 6 years of my life, I may struggle when asked to spell it correctly. Just seems pointless. I assume your name is Jim which makes your daycare name pretty darn cute!

There's a Puddle Jumpers here Though the kids only play on a big wooden deck, so I don't think there's a lot of actual puddle jumping going on. The provider is really nice though, and very professional.

I agree. I was thinking Jimnaisium is one of the most original I’ve read in a long time.

I prefer purposefully phonetically misspelled names instead of misspelling for the sake of being unique with a total disregard for phonetics. Oh Fahneticks!

One of my children has a name that is spelled oddly but it is 100% phonetically correct. I named my child after my husband, so the twist in spelling is a homage to him.

Village Children -----> Village of the Darned Daycare
Time Out Palace
Redirection Unlimited Academee
Minor Mutiny
Diapers Fully Loaded We save you loads of cash in diapers.
We Be Bad Babies

Snot R Us Yes, I really was going to name my business this one. My husband and friends all did one or more of the following slapped their foreheads, blank stared me then laughed out loud, shook their heads. What stopped me is my friend’s husband said, “I would not take my kids there ever.” On the record, I still love the name. I get most don’t share my sense of humor and I’d probably have an empty house or full with parents that had no other options.

Well actually, my name is in fact Wayne.. although a lot of people are starting to call me Jim because of the name. I actually came up with JimNaisium in high school when the movie Porky's was out. They had the name Michael Hunt paged through a diner (mike), and I started thinking of cleaner words to use as names along the same line of thinking.

When I went to Oregon for a family child care orientation, the lady from the food program (former FCC provider) and the lady doing the orientation both said "You want to make sure that your daycare name stands out from the rest, and that it's not too similar to another daycare in town, so that their reputation doesn't affect your business." Both said "Whatever you do try to avoid using 'angles' in your daycare name! Every other daycare in this town is called 'Little Angel's Daycare' or something similar". The food program lady when on to add "Not to mention, most kids are not little angels."

At the time I was living on Diablo street (diablo= devil; in Spanish) and thought, what if there was a daycare called "Little Devil's Daycare"? and the logo could be a red baby with devil horns, a mustache, a pointy tail, and a rattle with flames and a pitchfork on it. Some parents might think it was funny, but I can see a lot of parents being offended by that; so I'll just stick with my original idea.

I also thought that if there was a Dr. Seuss (or even Mother Goose/ nursery rhyme) themed daycare maybe it could be called "Who-Care? We Care Daycare" and there slogan could be "Where a person's a person, no matter how small" or "I am the Lorax, I speak for the Kiddies" (variation of Dr. Seuss quotes).

No wonder she doesn't know how to spell ,if her name is spelled "Courtenay", does she pronounce it "Court-en-nay"? That would bug me, because I would want to just call her Courtney, because it rolls off the tongue better. I used to know a girl in middle school named Tiffanay (Tiff-en-eh) and she used to get annoyed when people called her Tiffany (Tiff-en-ee) by mistake.

When picking a name we wanted something that could have a cute sign so we wanted a picture of some kind that would work with the name. A friend's daughter suggested "Little Sprouts" and using a cartoon character that looked like a kid sprout. We loved it! But when we abbreviate our name Little Sprouts Daycare the initials are LSD lol Then we opened a preschool and wanted the names to tie in together so it's Big Sprouts Preschool. We call it BS lol Here's our logo. Our slogan is "Where children come to learn and GROW!"

There's a pretty lousy center not too far from here I jokingly (sort of) say someday I'm going to stage a coup and turn it into a Dr Suess themed center called Mr Seuss's Funzeum. Think my wife would shoot me if I actually did it. .

One of the clerks at the local grocery store calls me Daddy Daycare after the Eddie Murphy movie. I recently found out I'm known in town by that name. Maybe I should run with it.

Creative daycare homes and child care center names around here are:
  • Rockin' Round the Clock (24 hour daycare center)
  • Wee Folks Garden (Our YMCA daycare center)
  • Imagination Station ~ (Depot A or Depot B depending on which age group your child fits into)
  • The Little School That Could....
  • Einie Meinie Einsteins
  • Bloomer's (each room is a different plant/flower etc)
I really LOVE the name Imagination Station and would have completely stolen that name is there was not a similar program with the name Imagine Preschool close by....

Good morning,
I know this original post is old, but I love it. I was exploring the internet for unique names for a daycare/preschool. I am still in school at the moment, but exploring options for opening my own daycare with a preschool and after school care provided.
I currently reside in Oklahoma, but we are not 100% sure that we are going to stay here after I graduate. I am in the process of earning my Early Childhood Education/Early Childhood Special Education Degree. In Oklahoma public education is at the bottom (currently ranked 49th in the US) for teacher pay, hence the reason that I am not sure that we will stay here.
But anyway, I am looking for some ideas or suggestions on unique names for a center!
Thanks in advance for advice.

My favorite that's local is Happy Hippos Daycare.

I didn't want to pay for a name so mine is My Last name, comma first name family child care home. It's what licensing assigned me.

I used to go by Little People, but I can't do that without a DBA anymore.

I'm hoping to start my in-home daycare soon, but I'm needing a name for the application. My boyfriend suggested the best one ever, but...well, you tell me...

Me to boyfriend: Help me name my business!
Boyfriend: Hmmm.....Soggy Bottom Daycare.
Me: What!? Really?? hahahahahahaha
Boyfriend: What!! We live in a soggy bottom!!

I love it and cannot think of anything else, but I'm afraid people will think I don't change diapers

That's hilarious.

Hm. . . . honest day care names.

"House of Chaos."

"Snips 'n' Snails 'n' STOP PULLING THE PUPPY DOG'S TAIL."

"Pestle's House of Let's Everybody Nap at the Same Time, 'mkay?"

"Sunshine, Daisies, Butter Mellow, Why's Your Stupid Poopy Yellow?"

I'm thinking about a name change today. Considering something like"Oh H$77 No" or simply "WTH".

Lately I’m thinking this would be fitting for my daycare:

Booger Eaters...or should I go with a more catchy version? Booger Eaterz!

Chicken Little
Sister Dog (no, not a doggy daycare)
Promised Land
Busy Bee (we also have a cleaning company called Busy Brooms; I keep mixing those two up)
Wee Care
LaPetite
Kribs2Kids
Building Kids
Sproutlings (that's a pediatric daycare, I job shadowed there once)

I love Soggy Bottoms! Cuz lets be real ... kids have soggy bottoms. I am seriously considering 'Toots and Giggles Daycare' for my home daycare. What do you think?

What a great name. I love it!

Some rather unique names I’ve seen:
Tots of Love
Busy Bees
Lil Folks Academy

Ok obviously I don't mean this rudely but the very first thing I read is A Little Incontinent.

Sorry but that's how my mind immediately interpreted it.

Not far away from me, there is a Day Care named BJ daycare.
when I saw it the first time I recognized I have a dirty mind. To be honest, it happens every time I see that name. Sorry. :-(

Mine is Little Diddles. With a tag line “over the moon for kids”

My family nickname was always Diddle. At 38 years old my aunts, uncles and cousins still call me that.
I love anytime I find nursery rhyme decor for my welcome room.

Honest? ...... the first one sounds like you might have adult dancers verses preschool going on...

I'd go with the second option. It sounds more kid friendly and better at stating what it is you do.

We actually have a strip club called house of babes about 30 minutes north of here 🤣🤣 so I would not entertain that name at all!

Oh good...I am glad I am not the only person that made that connection.... I was thinking it might just be me.

But when reading, it was the first thing that popped into my head.

Are you a center or home based?
Are you in a big city, near any landmarks or anything significant?

Are there other centers in your community with funky or stand out names?

Are you a religious program?

Best Day Ever! daycare. My own 8 old is hitting Sponge Bob pretty hard and he loves that song. Sponge Bob has been around so long plenty of parents will get the reference, plus it’s sweet, optimistic, and easy to remember.

I will be a center and I'm in west texas. Everything is is The Permian Basin... so I'm looking for something that will help me stand out.

I visited texas for the first time last year and will be there again in a few months. The one thing I noticed and loved everywhere was the vivid bottlebrush shrubs.

So, with that, I suggest Bottlebrush Branch Childcare and Preschool.

You could even take it deeper to the local feel with Bottlebrush Ranch...

I loved Texas, by the way.

I’m in Texas, too! There used to be a center here called the Tiny Texan. I thought that was cute. Of course in West Texas, anything tumbleweed related would be appropriate. Lol
