Next week is Mardi Gras which mean almost everyone is off 
. And may i just say that kids and toddlers love Mardi Gras! The beads, the parades, masks, i can go on and on. Even if i did have to watch a child next week the parade route is near my house so we can just walk. Entertainment for the whole day

all kids love Mardi Gras. Except when they are being hit by candy going 50mph lol i took a suck to the eye one year.

mardi gras is the last big party before lent started I believe to use up the meat and lard in the house to prepare for fasting in lent what is mardi gras? all i know is that they have a huge parade and throw out beads LOL but what is it celebrating?
kinda grew to include lots of alcohol and other excesses.

Uhm what you are talking about happens at night in new orleans. The day parades are not like that. I have never seen anyone exposing themselves at any parade i went toso it is not like we see on tv? lots of drunks and women exposing themselves?

Yay! We don't get the day off but I do Pancake Tuesday with the kids and a mardi gras party. I live in a pretty catholic city. Mardi Gras translates to Fat Tuesday and it is exactly what was said above. The chance to clean out your pantry of all the treats you will be going without during lent.
Nowadays not as many people here follow a traditional fast but the kids will usually choose something to give up. This year it is soft drinks and snack foods.
