You mean you don't just do this because of your love for children???

Just selfish. How dare you not take the food out of your family's mouth in order to take a new client. Oh, the shame.
If you love children, you'd do it for pure joy.
You should be paying them for the pleasure of their child's company.

You are so lucky that they are willing to pay you for watching a 1 year old for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. How generous of them to offer you money for the use of a full time slot in your place of busness

You gals are so funny
Wow! How lucky you are!! She'll pay you!
I had a DCM say something similar when she was late "Oops sorry I'm 45 minutes late! Oh I know I don't need to but here's some extra $$" Ummm... did you miss the late fee clause in my contract? Apparently not because the $$ was exactly what I was adding to her that night. Somebody just wanted to feel like they were in charge

I have to know....did you laugh out loud?

I get this in e-mails and text messages all the time. I always reply back, "Thank you so much for respecting my policy regarding keeping your sick child home for a minimum of 24 hours after the illness goes away! It is very much appreciated."

I replied to her laughing with sarcasm saying "I would assume so! ah ah ah"!!!
However I don't think is going to work out anyway... my neighbor's life situation is one of those where there are small kids involved, with separated young parents calling CPS on each other, no jobs, no money, judges, court orders, restraining orders, social services and so on... and the roommate has pretty much the same background, so definitely not a reliable situation...
They ended up coming over to talk about it anyway, but I think they thought that what I was doing, was just babysitting to earn extra cash, whenever they needed... I showed them around, pulled out my certifications and what not, went over my small program... they were definitely thrown off, and they were not expecting that I'm actually running a business... she asked how much I charged for three full days and her "oh, ok" definitely told me that there is no way she could afford that...plus deposit - so I gave her my handbook with all the nice little rules, and policies, and told her to look it over and let me know...
I'm pretty confident she will not come back...
Oh, and they came over with the kid I'm supposed to watch, and my neighbor's 2 years old - the children were filty, sticky, messy.. I was appalled and I didn't even want to touch them... poor things...
