Edited: Title should be notice period

I have a family that has had multiple children enrolled over the years. Currently, I have two at the same time.

When the youngest began I believe I provided a security deposit notice (which would have detailed to give FOUR weeks notice if you have two children enrolled) however I can't quite remember.
If I didn't, then she would be thinking she only needed to give a two week notice even though my Parent Handbook was updated to say 4 weeks over a year ago. They don't read the handbook anyhow so I know this wouldn't even be on their radar.

Can I send a note that I know they're trying to figure things out in regards to moving and I wanted to ensure that they were aware of our policy on page -- of the Parent Handbook that discusses unenrollment of two children? Or, would that be rude since I don't know if I VERBALLY mentioned it/provided the security deposit fee note when they enrolled their other child?

i would mention it.

Hey dcp

we are sad to hear that your family will be moving. We will really miss the kids. Please don't forget to provide your 30 day notice in writing.

Thanks so much,
DCP

Honestly as a parent I would find a reminder about withdrawal policies helpful. Moving and the whole process that entails would be enough to make me forget something I heard a while ago.

If you updated the handbook/policy a year ago, I assume they were given a copy? Id they didn't read it, that's on them but I see nothing wrong with a little "hey just in case you forgot..." notice. Whether via e-mail, text or note.

I'd probably say something like:

"Hey Family! I know you are in the process of figuring out your plans but I just wanted to send you a quick reminder about needing 2 weeks notice PER child (4 weeks in your case) when withdrawing so you can make sure you factor that into any decisions you make."

Thank you for the wording! I was having trouble not sounding greedy with how I was wording it. I'm a little too blunt sometimes.

Totally understand.

There is a fine line between passive and aggressive.

Its taken me years to learn that fine line is called "politely assertive"

If she was notified in ANY way about requiring 4 weeks for 2 children, it's only right, and maybe even nice, to remind her. Like daycarediva said, she might even be glad you reminded her.

I tend to be one extreme or the other. It's a CONSTANT work in progress trying to balance it. I know that I can come across as aggressive so I then try to "balance" it by being passive. It's improving but there are still times where I struggle (like this!).

Make sure you send then reminder in writing. I just had a family who knew the were putting Dck in a preschool closer to home but never gave me a end date. I reminded dad twice in person that they needed to send me a two week notice through email (written notice being required is in both my handbook and contract) and he said he would let his wife know to send the email. I never received that email or a end date verbally. Long story short Friday came around I asked about payment and mom said it was her last day. So they ended up having pay for care they didn't use.

I've become very friendly with the family over the years. I e-mailed them the policy reminder. Mom mentioned it to me yesterday evening when I was purchasing some used outdoor equipment from her to add to our collection that she'll submit her 1 months notice on Monday. Problem solved.
I have an interview Monday evening for one of the children's spots.
