Usually I don't mind, but the kids in question are mine. 
It's a PD day, they are at each other's throats, Im getting my period any minute, and he's sitting on the couch playing computer games.
Can I make him sign a contract that provides care to his kids only when he's working.

Argh, that used to make me so mad! Dh worked 3 1/2 days a week during the summer, always went golfing Thursday afternoons and then hung out around the house all day Friday, never doing anything with our own kids(who clearly would have LOVED to do anything else besides hang out with dcks), nor offering to help. Fun fun, NOT.

A couple of weeks back I actually texted my H and told him that his daughter was terminated from daycare for the day and he needed to come get her within the next 30 minutes. I knew he was on his way home and he did come and get her to take her upstairs. She was being a tantrum diva and I couldn't take it any longer. She is my youngest here (early 1) and was just being a real downer. LOL.
Go give your kids each a dollar and have them tell Daddy they want to go to the dollar store. Bam. Instant win. You're a cool mom, they leave the house, and Dad gets to have cheap quality time with them picking out something amazing for $1/each.

Ugh yes my husband does this too. I tell him, "Your child is daycare everyday. You are not working. Spend time with him!"
This doesn't get him to do it, he just has an excuse for what he needs (or wants) to do. I then tell him "You re just like all the other dcp's that leave there kids here even when they are home!"

Do we have the same dh? 
Though he hides in our room playing on his kindle. 3 of the 6 kids I care for are OURS. Sometimes I will just bring the baby in to him and remind him half are his and he care for at least half of his kids while home.

That'd work, too! Go be a parent that drops off their kid at daycare (daddy daycare...) to go to work.Do we have the same dh?

In glad (and sad) to know I'm not alone. I told him his kids had exceeded their daycare hours for the week. He went and got me Subway, put on Netflix for them upstairs during nap time, and is now up their playing Legos with them.

Sounds familiar- minus the getting my period part.
On days my wife has early shift, she manages to find things to do so she gets home after kids leave or at least late as possible. On rare days off she can't wait to find something else to do. Part of it is she had 6 weeks home rest after having screws put in her hip (she cracked it running the Chicago Marathon). After that she spent far less time here. I actually don't mind- just let me run my program & stay out of my way. As for our own kids, she does things with them on the weekend to give me more shop time.

40 hours a week working, 20 hours of school (me) on top of my homework and countless papers to write. The husband whines about taking our kids to do anything, and says that they're overscheduled. Uh, dude, our kids have ONE activity EACH that they enjoy and of course school obligations that sometimes, are after school. Nothing more. But compound this by FOUR kids, YES you're gonna run around a LOT. But if I can do it and still manage to work, go to school, complete homework (and clean the house, do dishes and laundry, help with their OWN homework, get them bathed and everything else that they need done, and all that with ONLY the kids' help, which sometimes isn't real "help") then HE can do it WITHOUT bitchin' lol

Ugh, mine does it too, but I do have to say that my ds likes to play with the dck's, but sometimes I need a little break and taking one child out can sometimes make all the difference!
I've called dh before too and told him he needed to pick up his ds and he just laughs at me.
P.S. It's always more bothersome around that time of the month!

So so so happy I'm not the only one!!! And my ds is a daddys boy! Everytime my dh walks through the house and doesn't take D's with him he throws a 15 min fit! Gonna use some of these suggestions! I'm gonna start telling him for every Fri you don't take ds to do something its 25 out of your rebuild my jeep savings!!! Hahaha
