Daycare Center and Family Home Forum>Funny Craigslist Ad
spud912 09:08 PM 04-05-2011
I couldn't find the old post about funny ads on Craigslist, but I really had to post this one:

I will do **BABYSITTING** from my home. I'm a mother grandmother of five, watch my grandson during the day. Open to help other parents in need of a babysitter, to look for work or thats working. I use to work for Elcampinto Daycare Center as a teacher assistant for 1-5 years old. I've raised four of my own children. Was a Certified Nurse Assistant/Homehealth Aide for 15 years. I'm also a Attorney Assistant/Paralegal.

I also work from my home therefore I'm ONLY available the time I have listed. May be able to extend my hour on some days. I expect parents to pick their children up ON TIME. If parents are not here after closing, I must call the proper authority.

6:00 a.m. to 12 noon ONLY Monday- Friday. Ages 6mths-5 years. DAYTIME HOURS ONLY! Full 6hour shift is 25.00 a day per child will negotiate fee with more than one child, 15.00 per hour per child, if you don't need the full six hours. 5-days a week discount is 65.00 per child.

I expect to be paid the day of child arrival, I'm NOT a free babysitter!

I ask for parents to bring proper supplies:
Emengency contact numbers thats reachable
Formula
Diapers
Wipes
Bottles
baby powder
diaper cream
Changing clothes
blankets
toys for your child
mats for sleeping
snacks

Parents may also donate items such as:
children clothing girls/boys 6mths-5 years in size
safe toys for children 6mths-5 years
videos for the children to watch
children tables & chairs
snacks for the children
mats
constrcution paper
crayons
potty chairs
anti-soap
safety gates & plugs
Anything else parents can think of thats helpful & fun with children!!

If you need me I'm here but don't come with NO GAMES, I expect to be paid for my services.
No **SICK** CHILDREN PLEASE!! If your child has a COLD DON'T BRING THEM!

So she wants donations of anti-soap? Isn't that basically the entire backyard...?

The time that shes open was funny to me too. Only till noon? Man Id love a job where I worked from 6-12p. Maybe people who work 3rd shift could use her services? Get home at 6a, drop their kids off so they could sleep and then pick them up at noon.

Also, lugging toys back and forth my kid to share with her grandson and other kids would be a pain.

Id love to adopt her backbone and also see who replies to this ad.

So basically this day care provider isn't going to provide ANYTHING in the way of toys, supplies etc?!!! LOL!

Amazing how she is "A ATTORNEY ASSISTANT/PARALEGAL."

REALLY?! You would think she would realize being professional and all that its AN ATTORNEY, NOT A ATTORNEY.

this is very weird. It says "I am completely unprepared to have children in my home, if you want me to watch them then you have to bring everything but the kitchen sink for them every day". What parent has time and space to pack a full days worth of toys for daycare (and have other kids ruin them)?

Well at least we can use her list when we have newbie posters needing to know what they need to start a day care. Let's keep it

Don't forget this line:

"don't come with NO GAMES"

Does it cost money to place a Craigs List Ad? Because if it's free I think it's a joke.

No I really think it's legit! I see ads like this all the time on Craigslist.

When I went to the class for licensing, you would be surprised at all of the crazies who want to become licensed!! I would not put my child with any of the people in there! The people in there were asking questions about how to become licensed if they are being investigated by CPS or if it's a problem that their felon/"ex"-convict relative lives at the home daycare.

When I went to the second licensing class (so the lady was almost through the semi-long process), I had a lady who wanted to know if she could continue to collect her child care assistance to take care of her own children. When she was told that she could not, she asked if she could give "her money" to her friend so that her friend's kids could come to her daycare and be paid. Ummm, probably not!

As far as this ad, I love the pricing too! If you bring your kid for 6 hrs. a day, it's $25 per day ($125/week) but if you come 5 days/week it's only $65? That's a great discount!

I could use another table and chairs...I wonder if my parents want to "donate" them?

In the childcare section, I saw this gem this morning. Now, understand that I am ALL FOR breastfeeding, milk sharing (where if you have extra milk you pump it and donate it for people who can't), etc...but this just crosses a line...

Can nurse your newborn

if you cannot breastfeed your newborn, i am younger and willing to
i believe breastfeeding is the best for newborns
you can email me with any questions

there was a crazy guy on craigslist "collecting" breastmilk for a supposed fragile/sickly child. he would put up an ad looking for moms that had a huge stash or overage.

I breastfed and these ads are really disturbing to me...I'm all for milk sharing for preemies, etc. (Lord knows I could have fed a small village) but I think the appropriate thing is the MILK-BANK at a hospital where they can run the appropriate tests, proper storage & distribution. JMHO...

Half thinking this one is some sort of scam/spam/something...the grammar is atrocious and really weird...

I am in between Sawmill and Worthington/Dublin Area of northwest Ohio [note...we're in central oh...she means, NW Columbus...].
I broke my phone so I have no number that called me. Please call me if you are in my area again. Sorry.
I am looking for a reliable babysitter to watch my three year old son.
I have had trouble with people that does not have a contract or is not up front with all their rule with their daycare. Need someone who will do both.
You have to be older than 18 and that has reliable transportation and that is responsible.

I have to do a background check, to make sure that you have no issues.

I will need you part time and a full time person during the days and the weekend.

I will have days that will change and will very with the days I do work during the day.

You have to know how to watch little boys who that are potty training.

I will discuss with you on the payments of five or six dollars an hour.

Please call me at [number] and my name is [name]

This lady claims she will neuter your child and she can't spell. lol

Loving home childcare in my post xxxxx home, lots of love and care, very clean. I am currently a stay at home mom of a 6 year old daugher and my 18 month old son. I include healthy meals and snack that are included in the tuition. My home is child/ baby friendly and childproof, large back yard, and screened front porch and back porch. I have tons of toys. I currently have a degree in nursing, so medically taking care of your child is never a issue. My prices a very reasonable, and hours flexable as knowing and experienced first hand with how unflexiable and extreamly over priced child care is. I am very compassionate and neutering when it comes to all children. My regular hours are mon-fri 7:30am-5:30pm unless other arrangements are discussed prior. I ask that parent provide diapers and wipes and if your child requires any extras. I do not force a baby/ toddler to do away with bottles or pacifers if they are not ready, unless instructed by the parent. I have a open door policy you may come and go as you please without prior notice. I also have facetime so at anytime you can communicate or be able to view you child to reasure you that he or she is being properly taking care of... Thank you please contact me is interested..

I've seen some like this and worse on our CL!

But recently I've seen some that are for young girls offering to babysit and THEN attaching a provocative pic of themselves. Like complete with cleavage and one I saw was a pic of herself in a tight fitting shirt standing in the bathroom sideways in the mirror taking a pic of herself. I don't know if it's actually some kind of advertising for an "escort" that I don't know about or if these young girls don't actually know the pic is inappropriate. What do y'all think? Have you seen those sort of ads too?

That reminds me of a movie called 'The Babysitters' its about high school girls who started an escort service under the pretense of a babysitting business (they slept with the dads when they "got a ride home" after babysitting).

I think that if that was a younger girl posting like this they are most likely just thinking it looks cute or it was just a pic on her fb or something. But I think if they advertise themselves like this they are opening themselves up to being taken advantage of by parents (either finantually and physically), because I don't think any family that is seriously looking for a professional babysitter would hire someone who presents themselves like that. When I have kids as long as they are living in my house they are a reflection of me and my professional image (as well as their father and his professional image) and I would make sure that I approve of all their pictures on facebook and I would also make sure that all their status updates are set on private and that they cannot add current daycare parents on their friends list without my permission.

These are some dumb cliche poses people always do on fb because they think its cute, doubt they will get many job offers if potential employers saw poteintal their fb account with these poses.

Yeah I really can't figure it out. Are they advertising sex or are the just dumb and clueless? Bc the ad reads like a normal babysitting as but the pic! Yikes!

That movie you describe was exactly what I was thinking that could happen to these girls that put sexually posed pics of themselves when advertising for a babysitter. If its intentional then, ok whatever but if not it could put them in a dangerous place. Plus, if they are advertising for sexual encounters I'd rather not see them on the CL section where I'm truly trying to advertise my legitimate business.

That's actually an idea off of Pinterest for reusing an outgrown pack n play. There's no mesh on the side; it's used as a reading area/cozy corner.

I am an older woman in my 50's looking to baby sit again. I use to help my daughter out at a daycare but she fell on hard times so full time work never panned out. None the less I am a responsible lady, raised many of of my own children and others who can vouch for me. I don't have the most awesome looking house, but I don't have a shack either lol. I reside in south part of City Name within walking distance of the ABC Zoo. I am quite a cooker and do things with the kids. I have references upon request. Will only baby sit for full time employed people and money must be paid at the begining of the week. I don't work well with people who promise me this and that. So with me providing a service way cheaper than a daycare would charge you, I don't see why the day care money can't be paid up front. Don't charge hourly or what not, just a weekly rate. I know not everyone works a perfect Mon thru FRI 8-5 so can accomodate and negotiate on something fair as we are all just trying to make it happen with what we got. No I will not go live in your house or drive to your house to watch the kids.

Kids must have a little back pack with them with extra change of clothes, snacks and whatever they are going to eat for the day or week. Feel free to send them with cereal milk hamburger meat, whatever I can use to cook for them. I'm old school and do with what I am provided and make the best of it. Can watch up two maybe three kids. If I have to pickup and dropoff it's a little more. So here is my rates:

30.00 a day up to two or three kids, 150 a week...please don't call me to low ball me or come out with some crazy offers, I know some craigslist folks or on another planet so give me a holler maybe I can help save you some money

No more than 10 hours in a day either. I had one young mother think I was gonna watch her kids all damn day from 6am to 9 at night, that ain't happening. So please be responsible. Just give me a holler if you have any questions or what not and I am sure we can work out something fair for both of us.

Money must be paid up front NOT at the end of the week...sorry been burnt too many times...its not going to happen anymore.

Money must be paid up front NOT at the end of the week...sorry been burnt too many times...its not going to happen anymore..

That is the best laugh I have had all day!

hey at least she didn't post a pic of her looking like she was dressed to go to the club......I remember someone posting one where the provider posted a pic of herself and that is exactly what she looked like................
