BACKGROUND: I termed a parent who was forever late & had a brat for a child. Hit, kicked, spit, etc. I took her to court & received a big judgment that included every minute she was late. Her wages are garnished at 25% of her income. It's also at 8% interest rate until it is paid off. She has since gone though a bunch of providers.

FAST FORWARD: G’ma lives down the street from my DC & she is watching the child now. We were outside, ex-DCM rolls up to the stop sign & gave me nasty look. I waved, smiled & yelled out, “HEY, THANKS FOR WORKING THAT OVERTIME! I SOOO APPRECIATE THE EXTRA MONEY!”

I got 25% of it.

Sometimes you just have to get your two cents in. Maybe it's right. Maybe it's not. No judgment here. But I bet it sure felt good! I tried to take a non-payer to court and they couldn't find her so I'm out the $1,000 she owed me.

You ARE thankful because you are getting the money owed. It's honest.

I go looking for them. Sometimes it's as simple as sending a final bill to the last know address & print the words "Address Service Requested" on the envelope.

LOL! I bet that comment really got her boiling. I bet she won't try to pull one over on another provider, though.

Unfortunately I had to put it on hold this year because of some added hoops the state wanted me to jump though for the fire alarm system that were time consuming & expensive. (It's not required for my type of permit btw.) Ironically when I pulled my permit & canceled my workforce, they called me Friday & wanted to work with me on getting it open this year. I now have ZERO time to do it or rehire the actors, being it's haunted house season NOW. Here's my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cells...9949?ref=br_tf

I went after one of mine in small claims, and was awarded a handsome fee as well. I was asking only for the 2 weeks, and the judge said that PLUS late fees PLUS lost wages PLUS court fees UNTIL the debt is satisfied. Great!

And just after I had a garnishment set up, they quit their jobs and filed bankruptcy. I got a letter that told me it is then unlawful to try to collect any debt from them after their bankruptcy.

I was disappointed. I felt so smug that their financial situation was that crappy...but I would have rather had the money.

In my state I can go to the hearing & ask that it not be included in the bankruptcy. You tell them you need it for your livelihood & depend on the income to meet your basic needs.
