I'm looking for other providers in California. Is there a childcare association? Or maybe an email group?

btw - I am in Los Angeles County

TIA

As far as I know, there isn't a California association of providers. There is the CAEYC. (California associated for the education of young children). It's California's chapter of NAEYC.

Many counties also have local family childcare provider associations. In my county, it's called San Joaquin County Family Childcare Providers Association. To find out if your county has one, Google the county name with "family childcare providers association."

Alternatively, your local resource and referral network may know if there is one active in your county.

When I google the best I have found is this: http://www.ccala.net/ but it is not really an association for the providers from what I see. It looks like a training resource and a tool for parents to search for childcare but not really any support for providers among each other.

I've looked for FB groups, because I love FB groups but none have approved me. There aren't any in this area. Maybe I should make one! haha :-P

The FB groups are interesting the one you invited me to never approved me and I can't for the life of me understand why..... it is hard to not take it personal, now I can't even search for them

I too could not find any groups for LA Area providers which is odd. Maybe we should start one, it seems there would be a need for it. Some of the ladies on here seem to really lean on the support given from their local childcare association cohorts.

We tried to have a Daycare.com members meetup in the past. I even offered to put in $50 for coffee. The date was planned and I even used paypal to send the $50 to that member who afterwards canceled the date.

I've seen that there are many forum members that are in a 50 mile radius. Perhaps everyone that is in SoCal can tell us what town they are near and see if something can come together.

I am in Moorpark which is north of LA and MariaVannessa is near me.

I live about 15-20 minutes from Hollywood, it would be great to connect and I would even consider hosting.

I did some digging and found this California agency:

http://cafcc.m.webs.com
They are a California Family Childcare Association.

I didn't have any luck with a general LA search either. The website you (OP) found looks like a resource & referral center. They might now able to tell you if any groups meet locally.

I haven't found one yet.

I tried to meet up with another provider from Corona, but our available dates just didn't coincide.

Hey, I just started a FB group called "The Life of a So. California Child Care Provider". I would love for any of you Cali ladies to join. Either send me a PM with your email or send a request to join the group through FB. Now we have a group!
